Xiaomi’s latest Redmi 6 series smartphones are all set to be launched in India tomorrow. Ahead of the launch event, Amazon.in has revealed that two of the three Redmi 6 series smartphones will be Amazon-exclusives in the country. According to our source, the Redmi 6 will be launched in India as Flipkart-exclusive, which means the Redmi 6 Pro and Redmi 6A will be available exclusively on Amazon.in

The Redmi 6 series teaser page on Amazon.in highlights some of the key features of the two smartphones that will be exclusive to the e-commerce giant in India. These include a notched display, impressive cameras, great battery life, and AI Face Unlock. As we mentioned above already, the Redmi 6 Pro and Redmi 6A are expected to be Amazon-exclusives, while the Redmi 6 will be available exclusively via Flipkart. In addition to Amazon.in and Flipkart, all three smartphones will, of course, be sold on Xiaomi’s own Mi.com e-commerce platform as well.

Redmi 6: Specifications, Features

Announced in China in June this year, the Redmi 6 succeeds the Redmi 5 from last year. It features a 5.45-inch 720 x 1440 HD+ resolution IPS LCD display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and a 1000:1 contrast ratio. Powering the budget-friendly smartphone is a MediaTek Helio P22 12nm octa-core processor clocked at 2 GHz with an IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU clocked at 650 MHz. In China, the Redmi 6 is available in two memory configurations – 3GB RAM + 32GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. For further expansion, the smartphone includes Hybrid Dual-SIM slots.

At the rear is a 12MP + 5MP AI dual-camera setup with the primary sensor boasting 1.25um pixel size and an f/2.2 aperture. The 5MP front-facing camera is also coupled with an f/2.2 aperture. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, and 4G VoLTE. The smartphone packs a 3000mAh capacity non-removable battery. Fast charging, however, is not supported. For unlocking the device, you can either use the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor or the more convenient Face Unlock feature. The smartphone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 9 currently.

The Redmi 6 Pro is Xiaomi’s most affordable smartphone with a notched display. It sports a 5.84-inch 1080 x 2280 Full HD+ resolution IPS LCD display with 1500:1 contrast ratio and a 19:9 aspect ratio. It runs on a 14nm octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor clocked at 2.0 GHz with an Adreno 506 GPU. The smartphone is available in three configurations – 3GB RAM + 32GB storage, 4GB RAM + 32GB storage, and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. Unlike the Redmi 6, the Redmi 6 Pro comes with a dedicated microSD card slot for further expansion up to 256GB.

In terms of optics, the Redmi 6 Pro features a 12MP + 5MP AI dual-camera setup at the rear and a 5MP selfie camera on the front. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, 4G VoLTE, and an IR blaster. The smartphone is available in China in just a single memory configuration – 2GB RAM + 16GB storage. For further expansion, the handset includes Hybrid Dual-SIM slots. In the camera department, Redmi 6A features a 13MP rear camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a 5MP front-facing camera with an f/2.2 aperture. Just like the Redmi 5A, the Redmi 6A does not include a fingerprint sensor. Keeping the lights on is a 3000mAh capacity battery. In terms of software, the Redmi 6A runs on Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 9, similar to the Redmi 6 and Redmi 6 Pro.
