The Huawei Nova 3i is the less powerful variant of the Nova 3. We could term the Nova 3 as a flagship, as the device comes with the latest hardware and features. The Nova 3i is a mid-range device, and it features the new Kirin 710 chipset from Huawei. Apart from that, and a slightly lower spec camera, the handsets look pretty much the same.

Huawei Nova 3i: Specifications, Features

One of the biggest features of the Nova 3i, is the new Kirin 710 chipset. According to Huawei, this chipset will compete with the Snapdragon 710 SoC from Qualcomm. The Kirin 710 is the first 12nm process chipset from the company. It features 8 cores, with 4 Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 2.2GHz, and another 4 Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.7GHz.

The chipset supports LTE Cat.12/13, dual 4G VoLTE, Skyway mode, features an independent DSP and an IPS for better low-light photos. When compared to the previous gen Kirin 659 chipset, the 710 sees over 70 percent improvement in single-core performance, and 68 percent in multi-core performance.

Apart from the impressive Kirin 710 chipset, the Huawei Nova 3i comes with a large 6.3-inch Full HD+ display with a notch on top and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The phone uses a glass and aluminium construction and feels quite premium in hand. Check out our hands-on impression.
In terms of the camera, the phone features two cameras at the back, and another two at the front. The rear dual-camera setup includes a 16MP main sensor coupled with a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, you get a 24MP main camera, and another 2MP sensor. The fingerprint sensor is available at the back. As for the battery, the Nova 3i comes with a 3340mAh capacity unit, but no fast charging.
The Huawei Nova 3i is targeted at the youth, and the cheap price tag will surely attract a lot of sales. The phone is well built, has very good mid-range features, and that 24MP front camera with portrait mode is going to be a plus for the selfie lovers. As is the case with all 2018 phones, Huawei has emphasized on AI as well. You get AI features for the camera, which help take better photos.
The phone runs on the latest EMUI 8.2 software, which is based on Android 8.1. And as per a recent benchmark test in China, the EMUI software from Huawei is loaded with features and only second to OnePlus’s HydrogenOS.
