According to a recent study, Mukesh Ambani’s Jio has emerged 3rd among the Most Influential Brands (MIB) of India. Jio is third only to two of the most massively recognized international brands. Reliance Jio is now a household name thanks to its affordable calling and data plans.
According to a recently concluded study conducted by Ipsos, an independent marketing research enterprise, Jio emerged as the 3rd most distinguished brand of India. It is joined on the podium by Google as the winner of MIB (Most Influential Business) 2017 and Amazon as the runner-up.
Jio’s ranking comes as no surprise considering how it blazed the telecom market with its nominal rates for calling and data usage.
Most Influential Brands 2017’s Top 10
100s of brands are judged by the MIB panel to rank them across various categories. There are three parameters against which the brands are evaluated -Leading Edge, Trustworthy Engagement and Presence and Corporate Citizenship.

According to the study, the top 5 ranks are occupied by e-tailing and tech companies with Google leading the pack in 2017.
In fact, 9 among the top 10 are telecom and technology companies with Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali being the only FMCG business at the 7th position of the MIB ranking.
Patanjali, the lone FMCG brand on the MIB 2017 top 10 list, is slowly but surely emerging in its chosen segment. It plans to increase its e-presence by partnering with several e-commerce sites.
Flipkart, the number 5 on the top ten list of the Most Influential Brands of India, is currently in acquisition negotiations with the American biggie, Walmart.
Jio has become so popular in India that it beat Facebook to gain its 3rd position in the MIB 2017 list.
Reliance Jio:
Since the brand’s launch in September 2016, Jio has been on an upward path. It gained a worthy share of the telecom sector soon after its debut and is the only company to have posted a profit in the Q1 for FY 2018-19.
Now with the launch of JioGigaFibre and Jio Phone 2, the brand is sure to soar much higher than before.
During the 41st AGM of RIL on the 5th of July, Mr.Mukesh Ambani announced that pre-bookings for the home broadband service by Jio; GigaFibre, and the Phone 2 will be open for registration from August 15 on Jio’s website www.Jio.com and Jio’s mobile app. While the cost of Jio Phone 2 was revealed, not many details regarding GigaFibre concerning its cost and data plans were made available.
JioGigaFibre:
This is a fixed-line wired service, launching simultaneously across 1,100 cities to homes, merchants, and large, medium, and small businesses. As per the company’s official statement, Jio GigaFibre users will enjoy an ultra-high speed internet of up to 1Gbps.
Though no official launch date or cost has been announced as yet, registration for the same will open from August 15 on the company’s website. GigaFibre is, for now, being launched as a broadband service but with its FTTH (fibre-to-the-home) technology under the hood, it is being groomed to handle cable tv, landline, home surveillance, and very soon home automation too!
Jio GigaTv
Jio’s digital content is offered along with the internet broadband services. It’s set-up box’s USP is that it enables video calling. Though it will be interesting to see how that will work considering TVs do not have cameras! Also, it’s remote is voice activated.
Jio Phone 2
Like its predecessor, Jio Phone 2 is Kai-OS based with 4G VoLTE. Full QWERTY keyboard, with wide horizontal 2.4 QVGA screen, 4-way navigation keys, dedicated voice command key, dual SIM and a slot for microSD, 512GB RAM, 4GB internal with up to 128GB expandable memory, 2,000 mAh battery with inbuilt Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC, FM, are some of its key specifications.
It’ll come preloaded with apps like WhatsApp, Facebook, and YouTube. From August 15th the Jio Phone 2 will be available at the company’s website for Rs.2,999.
