The Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has disrupted world markets by making available smartphones that were highly affordable and ridiculously well-packed. Among the unique strategies of this brand is to fill a whole range of pricing with variants, where the buyer is given more than enough options for each kind of phone. Following this tactic, Xiaomi has released yet another storage variant of its smartphone Mi 8 SE, which itself is a variant of the flagship Mi 8.

Xiaomi Mi 8 SE: New Storage Variant on Sale

The Xiaomi Mi 8 SE will sell today in China in another storage variant: 128GB ROM. The configuration has a 6GB RAM, just like the 64GB model gets, but the 64GB ROM model also comes with a smaller 4GB RAM. Xiaomi today released a poster showing the phone in four colours: red, white, black, and blue, and priced the 6GB RAM plus 128GB ROM variant at 2,299 Chinese Yuan. The rest of the specs, of course, are the same as the other SE variants.

Xiaomi Mi 8 SE: Price in India

The new Xiaomi Mi 8 SE in 128GB internal storage configuration is priced at CNY 2,299 in China. That works out to a little more than Rs 23,000 in Indian Rupees, but there is no word as to when it will be launched in India, with the Mi 8 and Mi 8 SE still awaiting launch as well. The Mi 8 is priced CNY 2,699 and the smaller Mi 8 SE at CNY 2,000. The top trim is called the Mi 8 Explorer Edition, and is priced substantially higher, at CNY 3,699.

Based on current currency exchange rates, we can expect the Mi 8 SE in its base storage variant, that is 4GB RAM plus 64GB ROM, to come in at a little more than Rs 20,000. The Mi 8 should be priced Rs 28,000, while the Explorer Edition will be costliest, at upwards of Rs 37,000.

Xiaomi Mi 8 SE: Features, Specifications

The Xiaomi Mi 8 SE was released for purchase in China in June this year. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 octa-core processor with speeds up to 2.2GHz and a Kyro architecture, supported by a high-end Adreno 616 GPU. The phone came in 4GB and 6GB RAM options at the time of its launch, and that remains the same now as well, with the internal storage getting another 128GB option. The handset has the latest MIUI 9.5 skin that is based on the new Android 8.1 Oreo, and sports a 20MP front shooter. The display is 5.88 inches, with a super AMOLED screen that packs in 423 pixels per inch. The display gets a notch design, with an aspect ratio of 18.7:9, and 81.3 per cent screen-to-body ratio.

The rear camera has a 12MP+5MP setup, empowered by superpixels of 1.4-micrometre size, dual-pixel phase-detection autofocus, a wide f/1.9 aperture, LED flash, and super slow-motion HD video recording at 120 frames per second.

Connectivity wise too the phone comes well-packed, with Bluetooth 5.0, Type-C USB connector, dual-band WiFi version 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, GPS, Infrared, and QuickCharge 3.0. The battery is a Li-Po 3,120 mAh unit.
