Huawei trolls by offering free powerbanks to Apple fans in the queue to buy iPhone XS, XS Max

Apple, recently announced its lineup of iPhones for 2018, consisting of the iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max. All three device were flaunted as smartphones with new innovations, with ‘Dual-SIM’ being highlighted as its USP. Apple fanatics may have been hooked and surprised in awe, but what about the general consumer? The type which looks towards high-end specifications in a device at a price that’s reasonably affordable? Apple’s only option in the affordable range is its iPhone XR, a smartphone with the A12 bionic chip and a resolution of 828x1792p.

iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max Sale is up in Singapore

Apple mania is at its highest in Singapore. Thousands of individuals had lined up ahead of its launch, in anticipation of purchasing the latest iPhones. However, this year around, the crowd is more orderly and calm as compared to the chaos which broke out during the iPhone X sales last year. It appears that while Orchard Road in Singapore was occupied by thousands of people, most were patient and waited in the queue. Not only do you need a ton of cash to purchase either the iPhone XS or iPhone XS Max, but you also need a ton of patience, waiting in line with meal breaks of just 15-minutes.

The relentlessness of the crowd was put to the test when a light drizzle tried to rain on their parade. However, most came prepared with their umbrellas and remained resolute in their attempt to purchase the new Apple iPhones. It’s clear that even though Apple may not pack the latest features in its iPhones and sell them at exorbitant prices, they still have a massive grasp on the international market.

Huawei offered free power banks to troll Apple fans

If you thought the jab Xiaomi made against Apple with its XR, XS, and XS bundles was something to dote about, think again. Huawei has pulled off an even bigger publicity stunt to steer the limelight away from Apple. Not only did Huawei take to Twitter to discuss the backdated technology implemented by Apple, but it went a step further by handing out free power banks to those waiting in line to purchase Apple’s iPhones. Enclosed with the power banks was a witty message by Huawei, saying, “Here’s a power bank. You’ll need it. Courtesy of Huawei.”

Huawei staff were spotted giving out free powerbanks to Apple fans queueing overnight for the new iPhone Xs and Xs Max in front of the Apple Store along Orchard Road. Well played, Huawei!

Well, you really can’t blame Huawei for doing so considering the fact that the iPhone XS only features a 2,658mAh battery as compared to last year’s flagship device, the iPhone X. Given Apple’s history with battery problems, it would be interesting to see how its new lineup of iPhones performs.

Huawei’s next flagship series to feature 4000mAh Battery

The upcoming Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro is rumoured to be powered by the Kirin 980 SoC. However, the main highlight of both devices isn’t the camera or the large-sized screens, but the large capacity batteries. Rumour has it, that the Huawei Mate 20 and Mate Pro will be rocking a 4,000mAh battery. What better way to rub in it the face of the latest iPhones than to have smartphones packed with large capacity batteries!
