Mi 8 Explorer Edition, Mi 8 Pro With In-Display Finger Print Scanner Confirmed to Launch Globally Soon

Xiaomi recently announced its Mi 8 Pro and Mi 8 Lite smartphones in China. Now, a Xiaomi executive Donovan Sung has revealed the company’s plan to release these two new smartphones in its international markets. He, however, didn’t reveal details any possible launch date, nor did he specify which all countries will be getting these two new Mi smartphones.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro is an updated version of the original Mi 8. The latter was released earlier this year and is now available in a few selected markets apart from China. Unfortunately, the Mi 8 failed to make its way to India. With that said, the same may not be applicable to the all-new Mi 8 Pro. It highly unlikely for Xiaomi to not bring this flagship smartphone to a country like India, which apparently accounts for a huge portion of the company’s sales. The Mi 8 Lite may still be exclusive to China, and Donovan Sung doesn’t really give any hints regarding its international rollout. Besides clearing the air regarding an impending global launch, Donovan Sung uploaded a few unboxing photos of the smartphone.

Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro: Key Specifications, Features

Xiaomi launched its Mi 8 Pro with two major updates. That aside, there’s hardly a few differences between the all-new Pro version of the Mi 8 and the standard model. The first and the foremost feature that separates the two smartphones is the new gradient design. The all-glass back of the smartphone apparently reflects light in such a manner that the rear of the Mi 8 Pro shows a transition of two colors, thereby giving it a trendy appearance.

The flagship Xiaomi smartphone comes in a stunning Twilight Gold color shade. Additionally, the Mi 8 Pro will be coming with a transparent back design, thereby revealing the internal contents of the device, especially the conspicuous Qualcomm logo. The Mi 8 Pro, however, isn’t the first Xiaomi phone to come with a such a transparent back. Instead, the Mi 8 Explorer Edition was the first smartphone with this all-new design language.

Another major highlight of the Mi 8 is the presence of an In-Display fingerprint sensor. It is the first Xiaomi smartphone to come with the new technology. Previously we have seen a smartphone that comes with a similar biometric sensor. They include the Vivo X23, Vivo V11 Pro, Oppo Find X, Oppo R17 Plus and a few more.

Underneath the hood, lies a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with Adreno 630 GPU. The premium chipset is paired with either 6GB or 8GB RAM and 128GB internal memory. The flagship smartphone further sports a dual rear camera setup comprising 12MP f/1.8 primary and a 12MP f/2.4 secondary sensor. The unit is backed by 4-axis Optical Image Stabilisation, Dual Pixel Phase Detection Autofocus, and 2X optical zoom. The rear camera setup further comes equipped with an LED flash, Auto HDR and a Panorama mode. Other features of the Mi 8 Pro include a 3,000mAH non-removable battery and host of other connectivity features which Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, DLNA, aptX HD.

Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro: Price in India, Launch Date
