The Chinese smartphone and electronics giant launched several Smart TVs, security camera, suitcases, Air Purifiers, etc. However, the most excitement was undoubtedly for the third generation of the Mi Band, a sleek on-wrist fitness and activity tracker. Xiaomi assures the third generation comes with amazing battery and great features which are part of the Sedentary Reminder feature which urges users to get up and stay active.

Xiaomi will sell the Mi band 3 primarily on Amazon India. But it will also be available on Mi.com. The first ever sale of the smart wrist wearable device will take place on Amazon India and Mi.com today starting at 12PM. Incidentally, we at MSP Gear had correctly predicted that Xiaomi will launch only the standard variant without NFC in India.
The base variant of the Xiaomi Mi band 3 will cost Rs. 1,999 in India. The pricing is very similar to the price of the device in China. The Mi Band 3 sells for CNY 169 in China. There’s also a slightly advanced NFC version that costs a little higher. Xiaomi is silent about the Mi Band 3 NFC version and its availability in India. Still, the base variant offers a lot of features that exists only in costly models from established brands. The Mi Band 3 comes in three colors: Black, Blue, and Red. Strangely, Amazon India and Mi.com seem to be offering only the Black color variant.

The Xiaomi Mi Band is a highly affordable fitness band that offers plenty of useful and practical features such as a heart rate monitor, step counter, and other fitness related aspects.
The Xiaomi Mi Band 3 sports a large 0.78-inch OLED touchscreen display with a resolution of 128 x 80. The display is astoundingly 85 percent larger than the display on the Mi Band 2. Moreover, the display is touch screen enabled. This means buyers can easily swipe and tap on the screen to view notifications, alerts, and take quick actions that replicate on the smartphone the band connects with. The screen can display up to 24 characters.
A 2.5D curved glass protects the display. Xiaomi assures the display is quite resistant to scratches. The band is also water resistant up to 50 meters. The Mi Band 3 can show alerts such as weather forecasts from the weather app. The band relies on Bluetooth 4.2 to sync with a smartphone. Moreover, the wrist wearable device works well on both iOS and Android devices. Buyers can rely on the Mi Fit app which collects all the data from the band. The app then collates and assimilates the data, and presents the same in an intuitive manner whenever recalled.
The Mi Band 3 has a larger 110mAh battery. Xiaomi assures the battery can last up to 20 days on a single charge. The band comes with a heart rate monitor, and several other sensors that can count steps, sleep patterns, and more.

The Mi Band 3 has an interesting bouquet of features under the Sedentary Reminder function. The band essentially monitors how long the wearer has been sitting, and then urges them to get up and walk around. A simple button on the band allows wearers to accept or reject calls. The button has simple multi-tap and hold gestures to execute various actions.

The touch screen is a huge improvement on the Mi Band 3. It allows the wearer to execute several functions. The band can display incoming calls, messages and notifications from various apps such as WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, etc. The advanced always-on heart rate sensor uses a newer algorithm that reportedly provides better and more accurate monitoring. The band comes with several fitness modes for walking, running, cycling, swimming, and so on.
