OnePlus is currently gearing up to launch its next flagship smartphone, which is expected to be launched as the OnePlus 6T. While the company has not confirmed a specific date just yet, is expected that the OnePlus 6T might be officially unveiled on October 17. Ahead of the smartphone’s debut next month, Amazon.in today started teasing the OnePlus 6T by setting up a teaser page for it. The official teaser ad for the OnePlus 6T has also started airing in India, featuring Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, who happens to the company’s brand ambassador in India.
OnePlus 6T: Notify Me Page Now Live on Amazon.in, Teaser Ad Released
The OnePlus 6T teaser page on Amazon.in confirms that the smartphone will be an Amazon-exclusive in the Indian market. OnePlus has partnered with Amazon.in since its entry into the Indian smartphone market, so it is not surprising that the company’s upcoming flagship will also be sold online exclusively by Amazon.in. You can also sign up to be notified when the smartphone is launched by clicking on the ‘Notify Me’ page on Amazon.in. The official OnePlus teaser ad does not reveal the design of the phone but it does hint at an in-display fingerprint sensor, which is expected to be one of the key features of the upcoming OnePlus flagship. We can also see that the smartphone has a dual-camera setup at the rear instead of a triple-camera setup suggested by some recent rumors.
OnePlus 6T: Specifications, Features
The OnePlus 6T is rumored to feature a 6.4-inch Optic AMOLED display with a waterdrop notch at the top, which means it will have a slightly better screen-to-body than the OnePlus 6. The panel is expected to offer 1080 x 2340 Full HD+ resolution and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. As confirmed by OnePlus recently, the OnePlus 6T will feature an in-display fingerprint sensor, making it the first OnePlus smartphone to come with the feature. Powering the OnePlus 6T will be the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor as the current OnePlus 6. Snapdragon 845 is still Qualcomm’s flagship mobile chipset, so OnePlus does not really have another option when it comes to the processor. In the memory department as well, we expect no major changes compared to the OnePlus 6. The OnePlus 6T is likely to be available in three configurations – 6GB RAM + 64GB storage, 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, and 8GB RAM + 256GB. Needless to say, the OnePlus 6T will not support memory expansion.
In the camera department, OnePlus 6T is likely to feature a similar 16MP + 20MP dual-camera setup at the rear. While the camera hardware is not expected to be any different, we do expect OnePlus to offer improved AI-backed camera features to help users take better pictures. The selfie camera on the front, however, may not be the same 16MP unit that we have seen on the OnePlus 6. Connectivity-wise, the OnePlus 6T will come with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Dual 4G VoLTE, and a USB Type-C port. In terms of software, the OnePlus 6T is expected to ship with the latest Android 9.0 Pie operating system out of the box.
OnePlus 6T: Expected Price in India
The OnePlus 6T is expected to start at somewhere around Rs.35,000 in India. While the current OnePlus 6 starts at Rs.34,999 for the 6GB RAM + 64GB storage variant, we do expect the OnePlus 6T to carry a slight premium compared to its predecessor.
