Samsung announces A Galaxy Event for October 11, new Galaxy A 2019 on the way

Samsung has a way of providing teasers for upcoming product launches. The Korean giant does the same with its Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series each year at its Galaxy Unpacked events in both Spring and Fall. This time, Samsung is back with a public invitation to its “A Galaxy Event” for October 11, 2018. The rumor behind this announcement is that a new Galaxy A 2019 is in mind.

“A Galaxy” Event: Hint for the Galaxy A 2019 series

Samsung often gives clues away with its announcements, and the “A Galaxy” event makes us believe that a new Galaxy A 2019 phone is on the way. There are other clues too, such as the commitment of Samsung CEO D.J. Koh to bring innovative, cutting-edge features to its Galaxy A mid-range line. The goal is to encourage millennials who don’t want to spend $1000 for a Galaxy Note 9 that may try a $400 Galaxy A phone instead.

4X Fun?

Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) Leaks With Triple Camera Setup; Could Launch Alongside Galaxy A9 Pro (2018)

The A Galaxy poster reveals not only the date of the unveiling (October 11, 2018) but also a clue with “4X fun” in its center. To what does “4X fun” refer? It means four times the fun, of course, but what does that look like? Rumors have also been swirling that the Galaxy S10 could have triple rear cameras (three on the back). And yet, if Samsung launched a Galaxy A 2019 with three rear cameras it would have four total on its first smartphone yet (1 front + 3 back = 4 cameras total).

Could Samsung be gearing up for a triple rear camera launch on its upcoming Galaxy A phone instead of waiting until next Spring for the Galaxy S10? It’s possible. Samsung could also launch the upcoming A series smartphone with a dual selfie camera (two front cameras) while keeping the dual rear camera setup, before it launches the Galaxy S10 Plus next Spring. Anything’s possible at this point.

Device listings point to Galaxy A 2019 smartphone(s) with four cameras

There are some clues within device listings too that give away a possible Galaxy A 2019 phone launch. First, a new Galaxy A phone has been listed in Spain, with model number A-750N (referencing a new Galaxy A7 2019). The A-750N model number likely refers to the upcoming Galaxy A8+ 2019, which just received FCC certification a few days ago. FCC certification is the last step before a smartphone launch, so the arrival of the A8+ is imminent. Last but not least, the Galaxy A7 (2019) could be revealed alongside a “Galaxy A9 Pro” smartphone. Its render shows triple rear cameras.

“4X Fun” means that Galaxy A 2019 buyers would have four cameras with which to take photos, meaning “four times the photography fun.” Whatever it means, and whatever the names of the upcoming Galaxy A 2019 series, we know that Samsung has got a phone launch in its future.
