Samsung Galaxy A7 First Sale in India Today on Flipkart: Price, Launch Offers

Samsung launched the eagerly awaited Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) on 25th September, and as assured, the smartphone will grace the virtual shelves of Flipkart for its first ever sale in India today. The capable mid-range Android smartphone from Samsung offers a triple-camera setup on the back for a surprisingly attractive price.

Samsung has stepped up its activities, and interestingly, the Korean giant is now refocusing on the affordable and mid-range Android smartphone segment. The market is currently dominated by Chinese smartphone makers like Xiaomi, Asus, Oppo, etc. To challenge these players, Samsung introduced the Galaxy J4, and soon after, announced the Galaxy A7 2018 Edition. Samsung has been insisting it would bring new and exciting features to its mid-range smartphones first. Hence, the company has embedded a triple camera setup on the back of the new Samsung Galaxy A7. The Huawei P20 Pro and the recently launched Oppo R17 Pro are the only other smartphones to boast of such an imaging prowess and have a higher price than the A7.

Samsung Galaxy A7 2018 Edition is available in two memory configurations, and the company has priced the Galaxy smartphone very attractively. The A7 variant with 4GB RAM + 64GB internal storage costs Rs. 25,600. The higher variant of the smartphone with 6GB RAM + 128GB internal storage costs Rs. 30,600. The mid-range Samsung Android smartphone will be available in three colors in India: Blue, Gold, and Black.

The Samsung smartphone will go on sale today on Flipkart starting at 2PM. Besides Flipkart, the handset will also be available to purchase on Samsung Shop online. Incidentally, Samsung is also relying on the offline channels, and hence, the Galaxy A7 will be available across physical retailers in India starting from September 29.

As part of the inaugural sale, Flipkart is knocking off Rs. 1,610 from the list price. Hence, the 4GB/64GB variant will cost Rs. 23,990, and the 6GB/128GB variant will cost Rs. 28,990. Buyers using HDFC Bank credit or debit card will receive a cash-back of Rs.2,000 on purchasing the new Galaxy A7. No Cost EMI options on the A7 smartphone begin at just Rs. 2,666 per month.

The Galaxy A7 (2018) features a 6-inch Super AMOLED Infinity type with a Full HD+ screen resolution of 1080 x 2220, and 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone features a 2.5D glass back while the front is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

An Exynos 7885 octa-core processor clocked at up to 2.2 GHz and paired with a Mali-G71 GPU, powers the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018). The smartphone comes in two configurations:  4GB RAM + 64GB internal storage and 6GB RAM + 128GB internal storage. Samsung has embedded a dedicated micro-SD card slot for further expansion up to 512GB.

The biggest highlight of the Samsung Galaxy A7 is the triple-camera setup on the back. The camera setup includes a 24MP main sensor, 5MP Live Focus sensor, and an 8MP ultra-wide sensor with an f/2.4 aperture 120-degree field of view lens. While the primary 24MP sensor is coupled with an f/1.7 aperture, the 5MP depth-sensing sensor is paired with an f/2.2 aperture.

The A7 boasts of a 24MP front-facing camera that is paired with an f/2.0 aperture. It offers industry-leading features such as 4-in-1 pixel binning technology, Pro Lighting Mode, AR Emoji, Selfie Focus. It also gets an LED flash to assist with the photography.

A 3,300mAh battery powers the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018). Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC, ANT+, and Dual 4G VoLTE. The Galaxy A8 (2018) measures 159.8 x 76.8 x 7.5 mm and weighs 168 grams.

The Samsung A7 (2018) supports Dolby Atmos, making the handset a great device for media consumption. Also, the handset comes with an “Install apps on memory card” feature. This allows using the micro-SD card to store app and game data.

Surprisingly, the smartphone also gets the Live Focus and Scene Optimizer currently present only on company’s flagship Galaxy Note 9. Thanks to the combination of the 24MP primary sensor and the 5MP Live Focus sensor, users will be able to adjust the background blur effect with the live focus feature. The AI-powered scene optimizer feature can intelligently detect 19 different scenes and tweak settings to help users capture better-looking photos. Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) is also the first Galaxy A-series smartphone to support 960fps super slow-motion videos.

The smartphone also features a rather unique side-mounted fingerprint sensor. The smartphone supports Samsung Pay Mini. Strangely, the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) will arrive with Android 8.0 Oreo, instead of the 8.1 version. Perhaps Samsung could be optimizing the OS, as it does include a custom skin and many other features that aren’t available on other Android smartphones.
