Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 will Pack a Massive 5000mAh Battery, India Launch Expected in December

ASUS Indonesia had announced earlier this month it will be unveiling the ZenFone Max Pro M2 “gaming smartphone” in the country on December 11. Ahead of the formal launch next month, ASUS Indonesia has released a new teaser that reveals the smartphone’s battery capacity. Unsurprisingly, the ZenFone Max Pro M2 will come equipped with the same 5000mAh capacity battery as the current ZenFone Max Pro M1. ASUS is expected to launch the ZenFone Max Pro M2 in India and a few other markets as well next month.

Latest ZenFone Max Pro M2 Teaser Confirms 5000mAh Battery Size

Some early rumors had suggested ASUS may equip the ZenFone Max Pro M2 with a slightly larger battery than its predecessor. Now, however, it is pretty clear that the ZenFone Max Pro M2 will come with an identical 5000mAh battery. Even though the battery capacity will be identical, you can expect the ZenFone Max Pro M2 to offer slightly better battery life thanks to the newer components and software optimizations. The ZenFone Max Pro M1 offers superior battery life compared to most other budget Android smartphones, so it is certainly not disappointing that ASUS has decided to keep the battery capacity unchanged. While the latest teaser confirms the smartphone’s battery capacity, it still remains to be seen if the ZenFone Max Pro M2 will offer Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 support for faster charging speeds.

ASUS Expected to Launch the ZenFone Max Pro M2 in India

The ZenFone Max Pro M2 is expected to be launched in India sometime next month. ASUS India, however, has not confirmed any specific launch date just yet. It is highly likely that the smartphone will be making its global debut in Indonesia and the India launch could happen soon after that. As for pricing, the ZenFone Max Pro M2 could be launched at a slightly higher price point than the ZenFone Max Pro M1. The ZenFone Max Pro M1 starts at INR 10,999 for the base 3GB RAM + 32GB storage variant and goes up to INR 14,999 for the 6GB RAM + 64GB storage variant.

The ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 is rumored to feature a 6.26-inch IPS LCD display with Full HD+ resolution and a 19:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the upcoming ASUS budget Android smartphone is tipped to run on a 14nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor, which offers superior performance compared to the Snapdragon 636 chip that powers the current ZenFone Max Pro M1. In the memory department, the smartphone is expected to sport 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. In India, however, we expect the ZenFone Max Pro M2 to be available in a 6GB RAM variant as well. Connectivity features will include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and Dual 4G VoLTE.

In the camera department, ZenFone Max Pro M2 will feature a dual-camera setup at the rear, just like the current model. Unlike the current model, however, the ZenFone Max Pro M2 camera will likely include several AI-assisted features such as intelligent scene detection.  As can be seen in the latest teaser above, the smartphone will include a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor as well. On the software front, the ZenFone Max Pro M2 may launch with stock Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box.
