Nokia 7 Plus New Android 9 Pie Build Update Brings Updated Camera App, November Security Patch

The Nokia 7 Plus was one of the first phones from HMD Global to receive the official Android 9.0 Pie software update. The phone has been running on a stable version of Pie for over a month now. This is one of the good things about being part of the Android One program and running stock Android. The device will tend to receive new updates faster than others.

Now, there is a new version of Pie being rolled to the Nokia 7 Plus users in India. The update brings several new features and improvements to the device.

Nokia 7 Plus Update New Features

HMD Global launched the Nokia 7 Plus in March of this year. This is a mid-range smartphone with very good internals, camera, and design. If you own a Nokia 7 Plus, you should soon receive the new update carrying the version number 3.39B. The update is being delivered over-the-air, which means that it could take a couple of days to be available for all users. We would like to remind you that this update is currently only being rolled out to the users in India.

Looking at the screenshots available online, the update weighs around 460MB. Therefore, if you get the update, we recommend you download it over a stable Wi-Fi connection. You can manually check for the update by heading over to System Update in the Settings app.

The new update features a couple of new features and improvements. It comes with new system navigations, probably an improved gesture navigation that was introduced in Pie. It also brings design changes to the Settings menu and the Notifications. We are not sure why these features weren’t already available, but you can enjoy Adaptive Brightness and Adaptive Battery with the latest update for the Nokia 7 Plus.

Nokia has included a new Camera 9.0 app that features a new UI, Google Lens integration, and Google Motion as well. The update also brings a new feature called Predictive Application Actions, which learns how you use the applications on your phone to provide predictive inputs. Finally, the update will install the latest November Android security patch on your phone. If you have received the update notification, then we suggest you install it soon.

HMD Global had delivered another Pie based update late last month. This update installed the October security patch, but didn’t really bring anything new to the phone. Like we said at the start, the Nokia 7 Plus has been running Android 9.0 Pie from a while now. Nokia is now working on bringing the update to other devices.

Android 9.0 Pie Update for Other Nokia Phones

Most Nokia smartphones that were released this year, are part of the Android One program. This means that the devices run stock Android and are entitled to receive the latest software and security updates faster than other OEMs who run custom Android ROMs. Since the launch of Google’s latest Android 9.0 Pie OS, several Nokia devices have received the update.

The Nokia 6.1 was the second Nokia phone to get the Android Pie update, after Nokia 7 Plus. Even the Nokia 6.1 Plus has received the update. HMD Global has also promised to release the update for devices such as the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6. Users of the Nokia 8 and Nokia 8 Scirocco will also get the update very soon, hopefully by the end of November.
