Samsung Galaxy Note Phones to Get Exclusive Harry Potter Game from Niantic in a Partnership Deal

Popular game maker, Niantic, and Samsung are reportedly collaborating to release Samsung-exclusive mobile games. Niantic is launching a new game called “Harry Potter: Wizards Unite” in 2019. As per The Inquirer’s source, this game would be exclusive to the Note lineup after the deal goes through. Furthermore, the partnership will also introduce new mobile games that will come pre-loaded on Samsung handsets.

Niantic is the creator of Pokémon Go, which is still all the rage, two years after its launch. The other success stories from the company include Ingress, Field Trip, Endgame: Proving Ground and more. According to the source, the game maker is working on new mobile games that will only arrive on upcoming Samsung smartphones.

Samsung and Niantic are Helping Each Other Out

Samsung is not unknown to making deals with gaming companies to keep its users hooked. Lately, the smartphone division of the South Korean tech giant has only been a disappointment. It’s been a while since Samsung mobiles have outperformed its rivals. The budget user segment is quickly shifting to Chinese competitors like Xiaomi, Realme, Vivo, while the high-end segment is picking up devices from OnePlus, Huawei. And then, there has always been a never-ending feud with Apple and now, Google for dominance. This deal will help Samsung add more merit points to its smartphone lineup.

Niantic, on the other hand, is looking to file an IPO next year. The company needs to raise funds for the same. Samsung is just the right vendor for the purpose, which is reportedly investing $40 million in the deal. So, Niantic’s need of the hour gives Samsung a chance to fix its smartphone upheaval. We can expect the companies to announce the partnership before the end of the year. However, neither of the companies were available to comment on the potential deal.

Note-Exclusive Harry Potter Themed Game

Niantic is to release the “Harry Potter: Wizards Unite” game sometime next year. However, it is still ambiguous if the game arriving on the Galaxy Note devices will be a special version or an entirely different game. Nevertheless, there will be a Harry Potter-themed game which will be exclusive to Galaxy Note lineup. The users will get to use the Stylus Pen as a make-do wand for playing the game. The source further mentions that games like Ingress Prime will come pre-loaded on high-end Samsung handsets.

Samsung had many expectations from Galaxy Note 9, which is the latest addition to the Note series. While the smartphone packs great specifications, it did not perform well. The sale numbers reflect a disappointing story, affecting the overall revenue of the company. The new deal would appeal to the gaming niche and help Samsung gain some numbers. The current Samsung flagship is an impressive upgrade over its predecessor.

The smartphone features a tall 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with 1440 x 2960 pixels resolution and an aspect ratio of 18.5:9. Powering the device is an octa-core Exynos 9810 processor, coupled with Mali-G72 MP18 GPU and up to 8GB RAM. The display and the hardware specifications make it a perfect choice for playing high-end games and even watching detail-rich videos. The smartphone packs a powerful 4000mAh battery, which keeps the device running even after intensive gaming sessions and hours of video playback.
