It’s quite impressive what Asus has managed to pull off in the smartphone segment this year in India. The company has concentrated on very few product releases and the incredible value-for-money strategy that we’ve seen usually from Xiaomi to entice the Indian audience.
The Asus ZenFone 5Z and the ZenFone Max Pro M1 come to mind immediately when we talk about the company’s solid offerings this year. Specifically speaking about the mid-range category, Asus managed to offer the hardware that Xiaomi was offering at similar price points. The ZenFone Max Pro M1 comes with the same Snapdragon 636 SoC that’s in its arch-rival – the Redmi Note 5 Pro. It also has a similar sized Full-HD+ display but the Max Pro M1 has a humongous 5000mAh battery that outclasses the Note 5 Pro and comes with pretty much stock Android. Now, it’s almost time for a refresh as the company has started teasing the ZenFone Max Pro M2 on its official Indonesia Twitter handle. Let’s talk about the official info that we already have on the upcoming budget handset.
Asus ZenFone Max Pro M2 Official Features: What we know so far Officially
While there’s a lot of leaked info surrounding the handset, the official Twitter handle of Asus also reveals some interesting aspects of the device. There’s no doubt that the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 offered great hardware, however, its build quality left a lot to be desired, especially considering what Honor and Realme are making these days. The new teasers hint at a renovated design and build for the ZenFone Max Pro M2 with a seemingly glass finish at the rear. However, it could just be a plastic coating. Also, the edges now sport a subtle curve which is bound to give a better in-hand feel. The front has also been revealed via the Indian Twitter handle and it has a notch design. No surprises there. Asus has also confirmed that the display will be topped by Corning’s latest Gorilla Glass 6. While there is no official info on the display size and resolution we expect it to be the same as last year.
The other key feature revealed is about the rear camera sensor. Asus says the new ZenFone Max Pro M2 will boast a Sony IMX486 sensor that will enable much better and sharper photos. The sensor comes with an f/1.8 aperture. Moreover, the handset will also come ready with 3-axis EIS for smooth video capture on-the-move. A dual camera on the back and a single sensor on the front is confirmed. The official image also reveals a rear fingerprint reader which isn’t a surprise.
Asus will also be maintaining its bragging rights for the ZenFone Max Pro line’s stellar endurance qualities. The handset will keep the 5000mAh juice pack easily lasting all day (subject to individual case).
ZenFone Max Pro M2 Official Launch Date in India
The last and latest official info is that Asus is very close to announcing the handset in India. In fact, the company has revealed that it will introduce the pocket-friendly mid-ranger on December 11 in the country. Also, the Indian Twitter handle reveals that Asus will exclusively sell the Max Pro M2 on Flipkart.
The ZenFone Max Pro M2 will go up against the Redmi Note 6 Pro this year which was launched a few days back in India. It features an improved set of rear cameras and dual front cameras which the ZenFone Max Pro M2 lacks, as is obvious from the teaser. The mid-range category is about to heat up, even more, this year with new entrant Realme also debuting some excellent value for money products.
