Meizu M16th with Snapdragon 845 SoC, M6T with Dual Rear Cameras, C9 with 2GB RAM Launched in India

Whether you are looking for a budget handset, a mid-ranger, or a premium smartphone, the Chinese smartphone maker Meizu has you covered. The company has launched three new phones in India today, including the flagship M16th, the mid-tier M6T and the affordable Meizu C9. For the uninitiated, Meizu initially started out as an MP3 player maker and along with the new phones, the company has a treat for audiophiles too as it also announced the Meizu pop and EP52 Lite earphones.

The Forgotten Chinese Player On The Block

The Chinese players Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO and Vivo have taken the center stage in recent times but with three new smartphones, Meizu seems determined to stay in the race. The Meizu M16th has been pitched at INR 39,999. It is a premium device out and out but without a hefty price tag, and can easily take down the likes of OnePlus 6T and Xiaomi Poco F1 (review). Next up is the budget M6T which will set you back INR Rs 7,999. And lastly, there is the entry-level Meizu C9 which costs INR 5,999.

Jio has sweetened the deal further for its customers, providing a cashback of INR 2,200 for all three phones, along with 100GB data for the Meizu M16th, and 50GB data for the other two devices. If you factor this in, the Meizu C9 will cost you just INR 3,799 in essence, which is quite a catch.

What’s Up For Grabs

First up is the Meizu M16th. The phone is fueled by the Snapdragon 845 chipset and is available in the memory configurations of 6GB RAM + 64GB ROM and 8GB RAM + 128GB ROM. This means that the phone should be quite snappy and you would be able to run most apps and games just fine. There is also a water-cooling system in place for those prolonged gaming sessions. The phone is quite a looker, with an ultra-slim design and a 6-inch full HD Super AMOLED display panel. If you belong to camp no-notch, this might be the phone for you as it doesn’t have one. The phone also has an in-display fingerprint reader, something which is still a novelty. The M16th has a dual rear camera system (12MP +20MP) and the selfie camera is 20MP. The 3.5 mm headphone jack has been retained and the phone will be available in the colors Moonlight White and Midnight Black.

Up next is the M6T, and it’s all-plastic body clearly indicates that it’s a mid-tier phone. It is underpinned by a MediaTek MT6750 processor, and it has up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory, which is expandable up to 128GB. The phone sports a 5.7-inch HD+ display with a resolution of 720 x 1440. It has a dual rear camera setup (13MP+2MP) and the front camera is 8MP. The phone packs in a 3300mAh battery and also features a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Lastly, we have the low-cost Meizu C9 which is fueled by a Unisoc SC9832E processor, flanked by 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. The second SIM slot can be sacrificed for a microSD card to expand the memory up to 128GB. The phone sports a 5.45-inch HD+ display and features a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. A 3000mAh battery runs the show.

The Meizu C9 will start retailing on Amazon India today from 4PM. The price has been reduced to INR 4,999 for a limited time so you might want to act fast if you plan on buying it. As for the other two phones, they are due to arrive soon and we will be sure to let you know when they do, so stay tuned with Mysmartprice Gear.

Here are two alternatives to the Meizu M16th that you might want to consider.
