Realme, as many of you might be aware, is the fastest growing smartphone brand in India currently. Its budget Android smartphone, the Realme 2, which was launched in August this year, is among the most popular smartphones in its segment. While the Realme 2 has been on the market for only four months now, it looks like Realme is already preparing to launch a possible successor. An unannounced Realme smartphone with the model number RMX1821 has been certified by the Info-communications Media Development Authority (IMDA) in Singapore.
Realme 3 Launching Soon?
The IMDA certification page only tells us the RMX1821 is a mobile phone with WCDMA, LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS support. No information regarding the hardware specifications of the smartphone have been revealed by the listing. Since India is the main focus market for Realme, we expect the Realme 3 to be launched here before other countries.

As for the hardware specifications, we can expect the Realme 3 to offer some significant upgrades when compared to the current Realme 2. While the current model features a “regular” notch, the Realme 3 could come with a Dewdrop notch display similar to the Realme 2 Pro and Realme U1 smartphones. As confirmed by the Realme CEO recently, the Realme 2 is also expected to come with Google Lens support right out of the box. In terms of performance, the Realme 3 will likely be a decent upgrade over its predecessor. Previous leaks have suggested the smartphone could be powered by a MediaTek Helio P60 processor. The Realme 2 runs on an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor, clubbed with up to 4GB of RAM. On the software front, the Realme 3 will probably debut with the latest Android 9.0 Pie-based ColorOS 6.0 out of the box.
While the IMDA certification certainly suggests the Realme 3 might be made official soon, there is still no word on exactly when that might happen. Seeing how the Realme 2 wasn’t a direct successor to the Realme 1, there is a small chance that the Realme 3 may not be a direct successor to the Realme 2. In that case, Realme may continue selling the Realme 2 even after the Realme 3 is launched.
