Samsung Galaxy A50 Pops Up on Geekbench With Exynos 9610 SoC and 4GB RAM

A few weeks back, it was rumored that the first Samsung Galaxy smartphones to feature Infinity-O displays will be the Galaxy A70 and Galaxy A90. While no new information regarding the Galaxy A70 and Galaxy A90 smartphones has surfaced online since then, another new Galaxy A series smartphone called the Galaxy A50 has now been spotted on Geekbench. Going by the name of the device, it will likely be a successor to the Galaxy A5 (2017).

Samsung Galaxy A50 to be Powered by an Exynos 9610 SoC?

The Galaxy A50 (SM-A505FN) Geekbench listing reveals the smartphone will be powered by Samsung’s mid-range Exynos 9610 chipset under the hood. It will be coupled with 4GB of RAM, although we may see one or memory configurations at launch. Announced in March this year, the Exynos 9610 is manufactured on a 10nm FinFET process and is expected to power at least a few mid-range Galaxy smartphones next year. The chipset features four ARM Cortex-A73 cores clocked at up to 2.3 GHz and four ARM Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.7 GHz. Handling the graphics processing will be a Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. The Exynos 9610 offers support for all the latest connectivity features such as Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and Galileo. A key feature of the chipset is its support for 480FPS slow-motion video capture at 1080p and 4K video encoding/decoding at 120FPS.

On the software front, it appears the Galaxy A50 will ship with the latest Android 9 Pie operating system when it goes on sale. The smartphone achieved a single-core score of 1615 points and a multi-core score of 4380 points. These scores aren’t quite as impressive as what Qualcomm chips such as the Snapdragon 660 and Snapdragon 670 can achieve. However, we should keep in mind that it is not a final retail model that has been caught on Geekbench. We expect the Galaxy A50 and other 2019 Galaxy A series to debut sometime early next year. In China, however, Samsung will be unveiling its first Galaxy smartphone with an Infinity-O display later this month.
