Huawei P30, P30 Pro Leaked Features Suggest OLED Display, In Screen Fingerprint Sensor, Periscope Camera Design

2018 saw the launch of some great smartphones from several Chinese brands. While the likes of Vivo and Oppo attempted to innovate on the styling and design aspects of their smartphones with flip-up screens and popup camera modules, China’s largest smartphone brand Huawei was trying to make a mark in the smartphone camera space. With the Huawei P20 Pro, the company was indeed able to create an impact. The P20 Pro and its sibling the Mate 20 Pro were both one of the best cameraphones that released in 2018. With 2019 already underway, expectations from Huawei remain sky high. The company, as you might be aware, is planning to release successors to the P20 and the P20 Pro both of which would turn a year old in April. These successors – the obviously named Huawei P30 and P30 Pro are expected to feature even better camera specs compared to last year’s devices. While Huawei continues to maintain a stoic silence over these devices, it seems the more features of both these handsets have leaked on Chinese social media platform, Weibo. Images of both these handsets were leaked earlier by OnLeaks and 91 Mobiles.

Huawei P30, P30 Pro what do we know so far?

As per the leak on Weibo, one of the major upgrades for the lower prices P30 would be the addition of an OLED screen for the device. As you might be aware, last year, only the more expensive Huawei P20 Pro got an OLED display (which was made by Samsung). This time around, both the P series phones will feature OLED panels. With Huawei already trying out the still-nascent in-screen fingerprint scanner technology on the Mate RS Porsche Edition and the Mate 20 Pro, this piece of technology is now expected to arrive on the P series. I personally am apprehensive about this change because I still prefer the normal fingerprint scanners that are still faster compared to their in-screen brethren.

While all of us are looking forward to the camera specifications of the P30 twins, we still do not know the exact details. What is currently being speculated, however, is that the P30 Pro will carry forward the same triple camera sensor technology we saw on the P20 Pro albeit with the newer Sony IMX 600 sensor. As for the P30, this phone is also expected to feature a Sony IMX6 series sensor.

Huawei P30, P30 Pro: Other Specifications

As seen from the leaked images, both the devices will feature displays with a waterdrop notch at the top. The panels on both the devices are expected to measure more than 6-inches diagonally. Being flagship class smartphones, both the P30 and the P30 Pro will be likely powered by the Kirin 980 SoC that is also used on the Mate 20 Pro. Unconfirmed speculations also claim that the P30 may feature up to 12GB of RAM and the P30 featuring up to 8GB of RAM. Both the smartphones will also support fast charging and will feature a 22.5-watt charger inside the box. That being said, we would have loved to see the devices getting the 40W supercharger instead.

Anyway, as mentioned earlier, these specifications are based on rumors at this point. We would, therefore, recommend you to take these reports with the traditional pinch of salt.
