Last month, a Chinese tipster had claimed Samsung Galaxy A10 could be among the company’s first smartphones to be equipped with an In-display fingerprint sensor. A variant of the upcoming smartphone with the model number SM-A105F has now appeared on the Geekbench benchmark database, revealing a few hardware specifications.
Galaxy A10 to be Powered by Samsung’s Exynos 7885 SoC
The Samsung Galaxy A10, which will likely be the most affordable Galaxy A-series smartphone to be released this year, will be powered by the company’s in-house developed Exynos 7885 14nm octa-core processor. Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy A20, Galaxy A30, and Galaxy A40 smartphones are also expected to be powered by the very same chipset. Samsung has coupled the chipset with 2GB of RAM on the Galaxy A10, which suggests it may be priced significantly lower than previous Galaxy A-series smartphones from the company. As for the benchmarking performance, Galaxy A10 SM-A105F variant posted a score of 1,103 points in the single-core and 3,324 points in the multi-core test. Both the scores are slightly less impressive when compared to the rest of the upcoming Galaxy A-series smartphones powered by the Exynos 7885 chipset. The Geekbench benchmark listing also reveals the handset is currently being tested on the Android 9.0 Pie operating system, which means the entire 2019 Galaxy A-series lineup is set to debut with the latest version of Android right out of the box.
According to a recent leak, Samsung will be using LCD displays on the Galaxy A10, which will help the company price it more competitively. While LCD displays are not quite as impressive as OLED panels, the switch to cheaper LCD panels may help make the Galaxy A10 a popular choice in the mid to low-end segment. While pricing is yet to be confirmed, we do not expect the Galaxy A10 to be significantly more expensive than the Galaxy M10. Samsung reportedly plans to ship between 2.5 and 3 million units of the Galaxy A10 per month. While it remains to be seen if the Galaxy A10 will actually feature an In-display fingerprint sensor, at least some of the upcoming Galaxy A-series handsets are expected to feature optical In-display fingerprint sensors.
