Xiaomi’s gaming sub-brand Black Shark is expected to launch a new flagship smartphone soon. In a post on Weibo, the company had confirmed yesterday that its upcoming smartphone will feature new liquid cooling technology dubbed Liquid Cool 3.0. The device, which may launch as the Black Shark 2, has now made a fresh appearance on the Geekbench benchmark database. It was previously spotted on Geekbench as “Blackshark Skywalker” with Snapdragon 855 chipset and 8GB of RAM.
Xiaomi Black Shark 2 to Feature Snapdragon 855 SoC, 12GB RAM
The “Black Shark AAA” Geekbench listing confirms the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 855 7nm octa-core processor. Just as some rumors had suggested, the handset is equipped with 12GB of RAM. As you can tell by the benchmark scores below, it looks like the Liquid Cool 3.0 technology is quite efficient and helps the Black Shark 2 achieve impressive benchmarking scores. The smartphone achieved 3,516 points in the single-core test and 11,413 points in the multi-core test. For reference, the 8GB RAM variant of the Black Shark 2 caught on Geekbench a few weeks back had scored 3,494 points in the single-core test and 11,149 points in the multi-core test. In terms of software, the Geekbench listing confirms the smartphone will launch with the latest Android Pie operating system.

Xiaomi product director Wang Teng Thomas had confirmed the existence of the Black Shark 2 in a post on Weibo last month. He described the upcoming Black Shark smartphone as being “full of personality and very cool”. The smartphone’s name, however, has not been confirmed yet. Black Shark had launched its first gaming smartphone in April last year. It launched the Black Shark Helo gaming smartphone in October last year as a successor to the original Black Shark launched in April. The company announced its foray into the Indian market earlier this month and is expected to launch its gaming smartphones in the country very soon.
