Nokia India has teased the launch of a new smartphone in the country next week. Going by the teaser posted by the company on its social media pages, the launch event will be held on May 7. The teaser highlights the dedicated Google Assistant button on the device, which suggests it could be the Nokia 4.2 that will be launch in India on Tuesday.
Nokia 4.2 Likely to Launch in India on May 7
The Nokia 4.2 was launched at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona earlier this year. It sits between the entry-level Nokia 3.2 and Nokia 5.1 smartphones in HMD Global’s lineup. In the US, the smartphone is set to go on sale starting May 14 for $189 (INR 13,000 approx.). In India, however, we expect the smartphone to be priced well under the INR 10,000 mark.

Nokia 4.2 is equipped with a 5.71-inch IPS LCD display panel offering 720 x 1520 pixels HD+ resolution and a waterdrop notch at the top. It runs on a 12nm Snapdragon 439 octa-core chipset, clocked at 2.0 GHz. The smartphone comes in two memory configurations: 2GB RAM + 16GB storage and 3GB RAM + 32GB storage. Like most entry-level Android smartphones, the Nokia 4.2 includes a dedicated microSD card slot for further expansion up to 400GB.
Moving on to optics, the Nokia 4.2 has a 13MP primary sensor and a 2MP depth sensor on the back. On the front is an 8MP snapper for selfies, clubbed with an f/2.0 aperture. Some of the other key features of the entry-level Android One smartphone include a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, 3000mAh battery, and stock Android Pie OS. The Nokia 4.2 comes in two color options: Black and Pink Sand.
Nokia 3.2 May Debut Alongside the Nokia 4.2
Alongside the Nokia 4.2, HMD Global may also launch the Nokia 3.2 in India at the same event. Both smartphones were recently listed on the Nokia India website. Just like the Nokia 4.2, the Nokia 3.2 has a dedicated Google Assistant button on the side. The smartphone comes with a 6.26-inch IPS LCD display featuring 720 x 1520 pixels HD+ resolution and a 19:9 aspect ratio. It runs on a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 429 chipset clocked at 1.8 GHz. Similar to the Nokia 4.2, the Nokia 3.2 comes in 2GB RAM + 16GB storage and 3GB RAM + 32GB storage variants.
In terms of optics, the Nokia 3.2 has a single 13MP rear camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a 5MP selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture. When it comes to battery life, it is more impressive than the 4.2, thanks to a 4000mAh battery with 10W charging. On the software front, the Android One smartphone ships with stock Android 9 Pie.
