Huawei, as you might be probably aware, plans to launch its new P40 series of camera-centric smartphones on March 26. While almost everyone seems to be talking about the smartphones that Huawei will announce around a week from now, what we have also heard recently is that the company plans to refresh its smartwatch lineup at the event, among other products. Huawei, according to popular German tech blog Winfuture.de will launch an updated version of its smartwatch called the Huawei Watch GT 2e at the event. In fact, the website even posted clear renders of the watch and talked about some of the key features of this new product.
Let us take a closer look.
Huawei Watch GT 2e Renders
As evident from the images below, the Huawei Watch GT 2e looks different from the Huawei Watch GT 2 that was launched last year along with the Huawei Mate 30 Pro. There are small design updates, though, along with a few feature additions and upgrades. But first, take a look at the renders of this new smartwatch and let us know what you think.
Huawei Watch GT 2e Specifications
The new Huawei Watch GT2e will reportedly feature a 1.39-inch AMOLED display with a round cut and a relatively high resolution of 454×454 pixels. It comes powered by Huawei’s own HiSilicon Kirin A1 chip, which is an extremely energy-saving ARM Cortex-M3 SoC. The smartwatch reportedly gets 4GB of internal storage and comes with support for Bluetooth 5.1 as well. There seems to be no upgrade as far as the battery size is concerned, and the watch retains the 455 mAh battery that we saw on its predecessor. However, there will be an improvement in battery life due to optimizations made by Huawei on the processor and the software front. The Huawei Warch GT 2e gets an improved heart rate monitor as well.
With a diameter of 46 millimeters, the Huawei Watch GT 2e is a rather large smartwatch. The design language is sporty and prima facie; the product seems to be targeted at active male users. The product will also be made available in a new mint green color option with a two-tone bracelet design.
There is still no word about the pricing of the Huawei Watch GT 2e. However, we can expect this to be priced at around the 200 EUR mark at the time of launch later this month.
