Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi recently unveiled two new smartphones under its Redmi Note lineup – Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max. The company is now making things global as it is gearing up for the launch of a Redmi Note 9 series smartphone in Malaysia. What’s interesting is to see neither the Redmi Note 9, nor the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is launching in Malaysia. The company will instead launch a new smartphone in the Redmi Note 9 series – Redmi Note 9S. The Redmi Note 9S smartphone will launch in Malaysia on March 23, 2020. Take a look at what we know about the device so far.
Redmi Note 9S to Launch in Malaysia on March 23, Here’s What We Know So Far
The company’s Malaysian social media handles (Twitter and Facebook) recently broke the news about the launch of the Redmi Note 9S smartphone in the country. The company has also posted a couple of promotional posters for the device, which give us a glimpse of some of the key elements of the device.
The wait is over, and we are excited to announce:

The first poster teases the presence of a quadruple rear camera setup to make its way to the Redmi Note 9S. Notably, the existing smartphones in the lineup come with four rear cameras and the Redmi Note 9S is no exception.

The second poster makes things all the way more interesting, as it showcases the Redmi Note 9S in all its glory. One can clearly see that the front of the Redmi Note 9S is heavily inspired by the existing Redmi Note 9 lineup of smartphones. There’s this centrally-aligned single punch-hole selfie camera, which we have seen in the other two devices already. Zooming in to the side of the device, we can (barely) make out that the Redmi Note 9S will also likely feature a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, leading us to speculate that the display of the Redmi Note 9S could also be IPS LCD.

Oh wait. Could it be possible that the Redmi Note 9S is a rebranded variant of either the Redmi Note 9 Pro or the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max? Well, we cannot negate this assumption. After all, smartphone brands do launch smartphones with changed monikers in various parts of the world every now and then.
For now, this is pretty much everything we know about the upcoming Redmi Note 9S smartphone, but since the company has started teasing the launch of the device already, we can expect to hear more about it in the coming days.
Speaking of the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max devices, both of them feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor and Full HD+ displays. The devices feature a quadruple rear camera setup. While the Redmi Note 9 Pro features a 48MP primary sensor, the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max comes with a 64MP primary lens. The front cameras are also different – 16MP for the Redmi Note 9 Pro and 32MP for the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max. Both devices run the latest Android 10 OS out of the box with the company’s latest MIUI 11 skin baked on top. A 5,020mAh battery can be found on both devices, but the charging speeds are different. The Redmi Note 9 Pro features 18W fast charging, while the Max variant comes with 33W fast charging support.
