Reliance Jio’s fiber optics arm called JioFiber has announced that it has added Amazon’s Prime Video to its collection of streaming services. As of this morning, it will be available to all the users of JioFiber. Prime Video joins the list of various other Video on Demand services such as Voot, Disney+ Hotstar, Zee5, Alt Balaji, SunNXT, and more.
Amazon Prime Video, will, however, not be available for free even if you have subscribed to JioFiber. If you have already subscribed to Amazon Prime beforehand then you can sign in to the service on JioFiber’s set-top box and access all of Amazon’s content. Notably, Netflix still happens to be missing from the services that JioFiber offers but it could be possible that it will be introduced in the future.
JioFiber has also announced that it will be providing the basic broadband connectivity at 10Mbps free of cost and without any FUP limit to all those who are present in JioFiber serviceable areas. While charges for the internet connectivity will be free, users who are trying to avail of this service will have to pay for the router which is a fee of Rs 1,500 and it is refundable.
Apart from this Jio has also said that it will be providing double the data to everyone subscribed to any of JioFiber’s data plans. All these actions have been taken by the company to ease the hardships that the Coronavirus pandemic is causing and is part of the Jio’s #CoronaHaregaIndiaJeetega campaign.
JioFiber’s set-top box runs on Android 9.0 and comes with all the Jio apps preinstalled such as JioPay, JioSaavn, JioCinema, and more. You can also access live TV channels using the TV Plus app.
