After many dilemmas, Meizu 16X has finally gone official in China. The Meizu 16X was launched alongside three other smartphones namely, the Meizu V8, Meizu V8 Pro, and the Meizu X8. The all-new upper mid-range Meizu smartphone is currently up for pre-orders in China and will start shipping later next week.
The Meizu 16X slots right below the previously launched Meizu 16 and Meizu 16 Plus smartphone. Both these devices were launched earlier this year, and come with top of the line specifications. On the other hand, the Meizu 16X bears a lower specced processor, but also comes at a much lower price point. The launch of the Meizu 16X comes soon after the smartphone made its first appearance on TENAA certification website early last week. That aside, the new mid-range smartphone had been in the leaks from quite some time.
Meizu 16X: Specifications, Features
One of the main selling points of the Meizu 16X is its display. It comes with a 6.0 inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED panel that mimics the appearance of Samsung’s Infinity Display. Meizu has, in fact, sourced the panel from Samsung itself. Additionally, Meizu has incorporated an in-display fingerprint sensor under the large AMOLED panel. It is one of the select smartphones that come with this new security features with Vivo V11 Pro, Vivo X21, Oppo Find X being the few others.
Keeping the display aside, another interesting feature of the new Meizu 16X is its all-new Snapdragon internal. It is one of the first smartphones to come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 octa-core mobile platform. This apparently is the only major difference between the Meizu 16 and the Meizu 16X. For starters, the Meizu 16 comes with a top of the line Snapdragon 845 chip that’s present inside the heart of flagships like OnePlus 6, Samsung Galaxy S9, LG G7 ThinQ and many more.
The Meizu 16X boasts a moderately capable camera department, which is manned by a dual rear shooter and 20MP selfie snapper. The rear camera comprises a 12MP primary and a 20MP secondary sensor. Furthermore, the Meizu 16X features a 20MP selfie camera. It also has a 3,000mAh battery.
Meizu 16X: Price, Variants, Availability
Meizu will be offering its new mid-range offering in two SKU variants. The base model of the Meizu 16X features 6GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage, whereas the top end variant comes with a markedly higher 128GB storage facility. Besides, Meizu is providing a memory card slot with both these variants.
Last but not the least, the Meizu 16X has been priced quite generously. The smartphone is currently up for the pre-orders starting at 2,099 Yuan (Rs 21,986) and goes as high as up to 2,399 Yuan (Rs 25,134) for the highest specced variant. The Meizu 16X is available in three color hues namely Black, White, and Gold. It is currently up for pre-orders on Meizu’s official website in China. The first round of shipping is set to commence on September 26.
Alongside launching the all-new Meizu 16X, the Chinese OEM has further announced an Aurora Blue gradient color hue for both it’s Meizu 16 and 166 Plus flagship smartphone. Consumers looking forward to opting for this new color hues need to pay 100 Yuan over and above the current asking price of the respective smartphones,
