Alongside the Meizu 16X, the Chinese OEM has announced a new mid-range smartphone in the form of the Meizu X8 in China. The all-new Meizu X8 bears a striking resemblance to the Meizu 16X in terms of the internals. The design of both the smartphones is markedly different with the latter being more premium and trendier in appearance.
Meizu X8: Specifications, Features
The Meizu X8 features an all-glass unibody construction and comes in thee color hues namely Black, Blue, and White. It is the first Meizu smartphone to come with a notch. Unlike the Meizu 16X, the all-new Meizu X8 doesn’t sport a Samsung like Infinity display. Instead, it comes with a 6.2-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD panel with a rectangular notch on top. The implementation is similar to the one seen in Apple’s new range of iPhones. The presence of a notch and ultra-thin bezels on all sides results in an impeccable 89.9% screen-to-body ratio.
Underneath the hood, the Meizu X8 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 octa-core mobile platform. This is the latest 10nm chip from the American silicon maker. The all-new chipset comes with two Kryo 360 cores clocked at 2.2GHz and six other similar cores at 1.7GHz. Additionally, it comes with Adreno 616 GPU. Apparently, the Meizu 16X which was also announced at the launch event comes with an identical processor.
Meizu X8 is being offered in three SKU variants. The base model comes with 4GB RAM/4GB storage, whereas the top one features 6GB RAM/128GB memory.

Apart from the display, the cameras are one of the highlighting features of the new smartphone. The Meizu X8 features a dual rear camera comprising 12MP f/1.9 Sony IMX362 primary and a 5MP secondary sensors. On the other hand, the front of the smartphone packs a 20MP f/2.0 selfie snapper. This unit comes with AI imaging capabilities in addition to Face Unlock. Apart from that, the Meizu X8 also comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The smartphone further packs a 3,210mAh battery.
Meizu X8: Price, Variants, Availability
The Meizu X8 comes with dual SIM capabilities and runs on Android Oreo 8.0 with Flyme OS on top. It will soon go on sale in China starting October 15 with prices starting at 1,598 Yuan (Rs 16,800) for the base variant (4GB RAM/64GB storage).
