Like all the major smartphone manufacturers out there, Xiaomi is not going to be a stranger when it comes to introducing its first 5G-capable smartphone. However, the latest leak details show that the Mi MIX 3, the first device from the company to sport a motorized camera may run on the 5G network.

According to a leaked image from Xiaomi’s President, Manu Kumar Jain the Mi MIX 3 has apparently been shown as the first phone by the company to feature 5G connectivity. After looking at the picture that has been shared, it becomes impossible not to think about this breakthrough since lots of manufacturers are racing to introduce a 5G-capable smartphone with their own brand name.
The image shared by the company’s executive looks very similar to the Mi MIX 3 but since he himself has not cleared anything regarding which model he has posted, we cannot say anything right away.
It is important to state explicitly that these are all mere speculations and no one can yet claim anything as to which device will be Xiaomi’s first with 5G connectivity. For now, it is better to wait for the official launch so that we get to know in more detail about the Chinese manufacturer’s plans.

The Mi MIX 3’s screen details have not been detailed so we cannot comment on this specification right now. However, we do know that the flagship is going to be armed with a Snapdragon 845 chipset when it launches. The base model could feature 6GB of RAM, while the model with the highest specifications possible will most likely see 8GB RAM. The variant with 8GB RAM could feature 256GB of internal storage while the 6GB RAM version could be limited to 64GB of UFS 2.1 memory.
Like all Xiaomi’s high-end smartphones, this one is not going to feature an expandable storage slot so when the Mi MIX 3 does officially launch in India, purchase a storage variant that you know will last you for a significantly long period of time. For added convenience, the bezel-less smartphone will be dual-SIM compatible, so apart from performance, and a beautiful design, you have the option to add two numbers in the future if you wish.
For the software side, the Mi MIX 3 is expected to be running Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 10 running on top. However, with Android 9 Pie officially launched, the flagship could be one of the first devices from the company to be updated to the latest update. The previous Mi MIX 2S came with a 12 + 12MP dual-camera configuration at the back.
The Mi MIX 3 could feature a similar setup, and it could take advantage of AI to improve images and videos considerably. This device will be the first smartphone from the manufacturer to include a motorized camera, much like the OPPO Find X and Vivo NEX (review). Xiaomi will have no choice but to use this form of a camera because the smartphone will have very thin bezels from all angles and corners. This also means that the device will come with an in-display fingerprint reader.

The launch of the flagship is likely to take place on September 15 in China, with the first sale expected to take place in October. That being said, a launch in India can only take place after October. Right now, the Mi MIX 2 is being sold in India at a discounted price, and when the Mi MIX 3 officially arrives here, it is more than likely that its predecessor will be sold at a much cheaper price. Speaking of price, the base model of the upcoming flagship could cost Rs. 39,999 and we look forward to seeing the handset in action during this month.
