The Korean giant unveiled its first triple-camera equipped smartphone in China recently. The Galaxy A7, as its known, is a mid-range smartphone from Samsung. The company has been saying that it would bring new and exciting features to its mid-range smartphones first, to spice up the competition.
And with the Galaxy A7, Samsung is doing just that. A mid-range smartphone, with a triple rear-camera setup, and other decent specifications. In terms of camera tech, it is the only other phone than the mighty Huawei P20 Pro, and the Oppo R17 Pro, to be available with three cameras at the back. The phone is going to be announced tomorrow, in India.

We are not really sure about the pricing of this phone in India, but since this is a mid-range device, expect it to be around the Rs. 25,000 mark. The phone is going to be sold exclusively via Flipkart, and other offline stores. Flipkart already has a teaser page for the product, and a full reveal will be done tomorrow. However, we do not know when the phone would go on sale.

Samsung Galaxy A7: Key Features
Now, let us talk some of the key features of the new Galaxy A7 from Samsung. The most important new feature, is obviously, the triple camera setup, but let us talk about all the other features.
AMOLED Display
The Galaxy A7 comes with a 6-inch AMOLED Full HD+ display, which is pretty nice for a mid-range phone. Usually, most mid-range smartphones come with an LCD display. An AMOLED display provides better blacks and vivid colors. The phone also features slim bezels all around, and an 18.5:9 aspect ratio.
Triple Camera Setup
Alright, so this is most important feature of this mid-range phone. The Galaxy A7 gets a triple-rear camera setup, with a primary 24MP RGB sensor, a secondary 8MP Ultra-wide sensor, and a third 5MP depth sensor. You get AI features to improve photography, especially during low-light scenarios. This is a great move by Samsung, and will attract a lot of customers. On the front, there’s a 24MP camera for selfies, which can also be used to make 3D emojis of yourself.
IP68 Water Resistance
The phone also features IP68 water and dust resistance, which is great for a smartphone in this segment. Usually, it is only the high-end smartphones that get this feature. This means that you won’t have to be worried if you drop your phone in the pool, or spill some water on it.
Side Mounted Fingerprint Sensor
Instead of using a traditional rear mounted fingerprint sensor, the Galaxy A7 gets a side mounted sensor. The fingerprint scanner is hidden in the large power button, and is actually a nice way to unlock the phone, since you will be using the power button a lot anyway.
Hardware
The phone is powered by an Octa-core processor, but the model hasn’t been specified. It could either be the Snapdragon 710 or a newer Exynos chipset. The CPU is coupled with up to 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of internal storage. You get a headphone jack, which supports Dolby Atmos. There’s NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, a microSD card slot, and a 3300mAh battery.
Overall, this is a great mid-range smartphone, that gets similar features as high-end phones. Of course, you cannot expect the performance to be similar to something like the Huawei P20 Pro, but it is still a very well equipped device. It should pave way for better smartphones from other manufacturers. Like someone once said, cheap phones are getting better.
