Juho Sarvikas, the Chief Product Officer at HMD Global, has tweeted that the brand is now rolling out Android 9 Pie OS update for the Nokia 5.1 Plus smartphone. A few users on Twitter have posted a screenshot of the update, confirming the same. The rollout of the Android 9 Pie on Nokia 5.1 Plus is a phased one. Therefore, it might take some time for the update to reach every user.
What Does the Update Bring?
According to the changelog, the update brings with it the upgrade to Android 9 Pie OS, new system navigation, new settings menu, new notifications design, adaptive battery power prioritization, adaptive and optimized brightness levels, predictive application actions, and Google Security Patch for December. Although the changelog does not include this, Juho Sarvikas has mentioned in his tweet that the update also has the Pro Camera Mode and ‘hide notch’ feature.

Apart from all these changes and new features, the update brings with it all the basic elements of Android 9 Pie OS such as Digital Wellbeing, Slices, gesture navigation, background restrictions for apps, and app time limits.

The Nokia 5.1 Plus, in spite of being a budget smartphone, features the new USB Type-C port.
