Xiaomi is Calling for Mi Explorers on December 3, Mi MIX 3 Expected to be Launched

In July this year, Xiaomi held a global launch event in Madrid, Spain to unveil the Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite Android One smartphones. A few weeks before the event, Xiaomi announced the Mi Explorer program for its fans in Spain. Xiaomi has now released a new teaser which claims ‘Mi Explorers’ program is coming back. As you would expect, the company has not revealed the name of the smartphone that will be “explored” at the upcoming event. More details are expected to be revealed on December 03.

Mi Explorers Coming Back, Mi MIX 3 Global Launch Likely

Since Xiaomi is yet to reveal any information regarding the main highlight of its upcoming launch event, we can only speculate on what the company might have in store for its fans on December 03. While we cannot be completely sure, there is a good chance that Xiaomi may launch the global variant of the Mi MIX 3 at its upcoming launch event. The Mi MIX 3 was launched in China last month. Along with the standard Mi MIX 3, Xiaomi had also announced the Mi MIX 3 Forbidden City Edition for the Chinese market. The Forbidden City Edition will be going on sale in China in December for CNY 5,000, which translates to approximately INR 50,250.

Apart from a ceramic back with a gold inlay of a Chinese mythical creature, the Mi MIX 3 Forbidden City Edition also comes with 10GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Xiaomi also hopes to launch a 5G-ready variant of the Mi MIX 3 sometime in the first quarter of 2019. If Xiaomi decides to launch a 10GB RAM variant of the Mi MIX 3 for global markets, the Mi MIX 3 would be among the first global smartphones to feature 10GB of RAM. OnePlus is also expected to launch a smartphone packing 10GB of RAM, the OnePlus 6T McLaren Limited Edition. The OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition will be making its global debut on December 11.

Mi MIX 3 Key Features, Specifications

Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 is the manufacturer’s first smartphone to sport a magnetic manual sliding mechanism. Since the selfie cameras are housed in the slider, the smartphone achieves an astounding 93.4% screen-to-body ratio. The smartphone’s AMOLED display measures 6.39-inches diagonally with 1080 x 2340 pixels Full HD+ resolution and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, Mi MIX 3 runs on an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset with an Adreno 630 GPU. In terms of memory, Mi MIX 3 is available in three configurations in China: 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage. Xiaomi’s latest flagship smartphone lacks a microSD card slot, which means further expansion is not possible.

In the camera department, Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 is equipped with a 12MP + 2MP dual-camera setup with the primary sensor featuring 4-axis optical image stabilization and Dual Pixel autofocus. It can record 4K Ultra HD resolution videos at up to 60fps and slow-motion videos at up to 960fps.
