Last week, Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi announced the arrival of its brand new Redmi Note smartphone(s). So far, the company has stayed silent about the upcoming Redmi Note 9 series. We can’t even say for sure whether it will be a standalone product or a series that the company will unveil on March 12, 2020. That being said, the rumour mill has done a commendable job when it comes to digging intel about the same. First up, we came across two devices, Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max, that the brand will allegedly launch on March 12 in India. Then, we have received some substantial information on the Redmi Note 9 series smartphones in general. Let’s talk about all this today.
Redmi Note 9 Series: Everything We Know So Far
Let’s start talking about the monikers of the devices that are reported to launch. Yesterday, 91mobiles reported that the company will likely launch two smartphones – Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max. The source was able to spot the monikers courtesy of their respective Twitter hashtags that were mistakenly made live ahead of launch. Our readers should know that the hashtags were later taken down from Twitter. Could this be an indication that the brand might indeed launch these two devices on the said date? Well, it is a pretty plausible theory.
Shifting gear to the specifications of the devices, while we don’t know much about the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max as of now, the reason being the fact that the moniker itself popped up on the internet only yesterday, we have a working clue as to what we can expect from the Redmi Note 9 Pro. Notably, the Redmi Note 9 Pro smartphone appeared on the Geekbench database website a little while ago. The device managed to score 569 on the single-core test and 1,755 on the multi-core test. Also, the Geekbench listing revealed that the Redmi Note 9 Pro would come with a 1.80GHz octa-core Qualcomm chipset, which will be coupled with 6GB of RAM. There will, however, be more RAM variants of the Redmi Note 9 Pro. Furthermore, the Redmi Note 9 Pro will run on Android 10 OS out of the box with the company’s in-house MIUI skin running atop. We can safely expect it to be MIUI 11.
Though the processor was not explicitly mentioned in the Geekbench results, comparing it with the Geekbench sheet of the Realme 6 Pro hints that the Redmi Note 9 Pro could also feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor. That said, rumors have it that the Redmi Note 9 Pro could come with MediaTek’s Dimensity 800 chipset. This would make Redmi the first-ever brand to utilize this chipset. The report came courtesy of a Chinese tipster, who goes by the name Digital Chat Station.
As far as the rest of the specifications go, little is known about the Redmi Note 9 series smartphones for now, but the Amazon product page for the Redmi Note 9 lineup teases that the devices will come with a higher refresh rate display, a relocated Redmi logo at the back, and a quadruple rear camera setup. We can also expect the Redmi Note 9 series of smartphones to flaunt a punch-hole display.
