Possible ASUS ROG Phone 3 with Snapdragon 865 SoC, 8GB RAM Spotted on Geekbench and Wi-Fi Alliance

Asus had launched the first-generation ROG Phone in June 2018. Almost one year later, in July 2019, the brand unveiled the ROG Phone 2. Looking at the launch dates of both the phones, it is obvious that the brand is following a one-year refresh cycle for the ROG Phone lineup. Considering that it has almost been a year since the ROG Phone 2 came out, it is about time that the brand unveiled the ROG Phone 3. But there hasn’t been any news regarding the next-generation ROG Phone. And that is about to change today. We think we have just spotted the first evidence of the existence of the ROG Phone 3.

Possible ROG Phone 3 (I003DD) spotted on Geekbench

We have just spotted a listing of an unannounced Asus smartphone on Geekbench. The listing shows that the model number of the smartphone is I003DD. If you recall, the codename of the ROG Phone 2 was I001D. As you can see, the model number of the Asus smartphone that we have spotted today similar to that of the ROG Phone 2. So, it is highly likely that the Asus I003DD is the codename for a smartphone in the ROG lineup, which could be none other than the ROG Phone 3.

What further supports our theory is that the Geekbench listing shows that the Asus I003DD has Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC. It is a flagship chipset, something that we usually expect to see in high-end Asus phones, namely, the ROG lineup. Anyway, the Geekbench listing shows that the ROG Phone 3 has 8GB of RAM and the Android 10 operating system. The ROG Phone 3 has scored 902 points in the single-core test and 3,074 points in the multi-core test in Geekbench 5.1.1 benchmark.

That is not all the info regarding the Asus ROG Phone 3 though. We have also spotted the Asus I003DD, which we are speculating to be the ROG Phone 3, on the Wi-Fi Alliance certification platform. The listing shows that the ROG Phone 3 has Qualcomm’s QCA6390 chipset for connectivity and 2×2 dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac/ax, Wi-Fi Direct, and Miracast support. If the Asus I003DD was spotted only on one platform, we could have been doubtful about its existence, but considering that it has made it to Wi-Fi Alliance as well, we are pretty sure that the I003DD exists and it could most probably be the ROG Phone 3.
