Vivo X50 Pro’s Gimbal-like Camera Stabilization, Low Light Capability Highlighted in Official Video Ahead of Launch

Chinese smartphone brand Vivo is readying the launch of a brand new camera-centric smartphone called the Vivo X50 Pro on June 1. According to a post made by the company on its official Weibo handle, the Vivo X50 Pro will feature a unique periscope camera and an interesting stabilization solution. The post also includes a video that appears to showcase the impressive stabilization capabilities of the phone. It also shows the rather unusual looking camera module on the device. The Vivo X50 Pro 5G branding is also clearly seen in the video.

Also evident from the Weibo handle is that the company intends to launch a series of devices under the X50 brand name. We could, therefore, see Vivo launch both — the Vivo X50 and the Vivo X50 Pro on June 1.

Take a look at the video shared by Vivo below.

The company has also shared another video that talks about the low light performance of the phone. Note that these are promo videos that actually do not speak anything about the actual specifications — either about the camera or the rest of the device.

Before we go any further, let us address the elephant in the room. We are pretty sure you have come across the ‘X50 Pro’ moniker earlier as well. That’s because Vivo’s compatriot Realme also sells a handset called the Realme X50 Pro in several markets — including India. This X50 Pro, as you might be aware, was launched in India earlier this year.

We are in the dark as far as the rest of the specifications of the Vivo X50 Pro is concerned. There have been reports, though, about the possibility of the phone featuring the Qualcomm Snapdragon 768 5G chipset. This, however, is yet to be officially confirmed by Vivo themselves.

This is apart from the likelihood of the phone featuring the new Samsung GN1 image sensor 9 (which was only recently announced by Samsung). This is a 50MP sensor and the first one from Samsung to boast of both Dual Pixel and Tetracell technologies. This sensor doubles the pixel size to 2.4μm and quadruples the light sensitivity. While Vivo does talk about the new GN1 sensor in conjunction with the X50 Pro, they are yet to officially say that this new sensor will be used on the Vivo X50 Pro.

Nevertheless, we should be getting an idea about the rest of the specifications of the phone in the next few days. We are, in particular, quite interested in the rather weird looking, oversized periscope camera lens that the phone sports on the rear camera module.
