Vivo NEX Ruby Red 128GB, 256GB Storage Models Now Available for Purchase in China

A few weeks back, Vivo announced a new Ruby Red variant of its flagship NEX smartphone in China. The Ruby Red variant is now available for purchase in the country and comes in two storage variants – 128GB and 256GB.

The Vivo NEX Ruby Red variant can now be purchased in China at 4,498 yuan (Rs.45,400 approx.) for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model and 4,998 yuan (Rs.50,400 approx.) for the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant.

Vivo NEX: Specifications, Features

The Vivo NEX is arguably the most impressive flagship smartphone that Vivo has launched so far. It features a large 6.59-inch Ultra FullView Display with 1080 x 2316 Full HD+ resolution and a 19.3:9 aspect ratio. Unlike the more affordable smartphones released by Vivo this year, the NEX does not have a notch at the top. The selfie camera pops up from the top of the handset, while the other sensors are hidden beneath the display. As for the earpiece, Vivo is using screen sound casting technology to use the screen as speaker. As a result, the NEX boasts an impressive 91.24% screen-to-body ratio. It also comes with a third-generation in-display fingerprint sensor.

Under the hood, Vivo NEX is powered by Qualcomm’s latest 10nm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor clocked at 2.8 GHz with an Adreno 630 GPU. In the memory department, Vivo NEX packs 8GB of RAM and comes in 128GB and 256GB storage variants. It lacks a microSD card slot, so further expansion is not supported.

Moving on to optics, Vivo NEX boasts a 12MP + 5MP dual-camera setup at the rear and an 8MP selfie camera. The primary 12MP sensor on the back has an f/1.8 aperture and comes with 4-axis optical image stabilization. Thanks to the 5MP depth-sensing secondary sensor, the NEX can capture Portrait images with DSLR-like background blur effect. The 8MP elevating selfie camera is paired with an f/2.0 aperture.

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band 2×2 MIMO, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Dual 4G VoLTE, and a USB Type-C port. The smartphone packs an impressive 4000mAh capacity battery with fast charging support. Vivo’s latest flagship comes with a dedicated Jovi AI assistant as well and is equipped with an AI button on the left side that provides access to various AI services like Google Lens, Google Assistant, and more. In terms of software, the Vivo NEX runs on Android 8.1 Oreo-based Funtouch OS 4.0 out of the box.

Vivo NEX: Price in India, Current Offers

The Vivo NEX (full review) was launched in India last week as an Amazon-exclusive. The company has brought only the 128GB storage variant to the Indian market. In terms of color options, the flagship handset is currently available only in Black. It remains to be seen if Vivo will be bringing the Ruby Red variant of the NEX to the country in the coming week. In terms of pricing, the Vivo NEX is priced at Rs.44,990 in India and can now be purchased online via Amazon.in as well as the Vivo India store.
