Google Pixel 2 XL 64GB Receives Massive Price Cut in India Ahead of Pixel 3 Launch in October

As Google readies for the launch of its new flagship handset the Google Pixel 3, around which there have been a lot of leaks and anticipation, the buyers of Google Pixel 2 XL are in for a major benefit. The Google Pixel 2 XL has just received a major price cut, and while Google has not yet said anything about it, we know a prominent retailer who has confirmed the development and is known to be among the first to report price drops. Read on for details.

Google Pixel 2 XL: Price Cut in India

The Indian smartphone retailer Mahesh Telecom today tweeted that the Google Pixel 2 XL, in 64GB variant, has received a massive price drop and will start shipping at a new MRP of Rs 45,499. This is a major chop in the price of the smartphone, given that it was launched at an MRP of 73,000 in India and later was given a $100 price cut globally, with the new MRP still being above Rs 60,000.

For context, you can see that even as we write the news, the Google Pixel 2 XL (64GB) is selling for Rs 60,999 at Croma and Rs 57,990 at Amazon.in. With the new MRP slumping to Rs 45,499, the handset is now likely to cost slightly more than Rs 40,000 after discount offers, what with the festive shopping season dawning upon us. As of now, the price drop has not reflected on e-commerce platforms, but expect it to come into effect anytime soon.

Google Pixel 2 XL: Specifications, Features

The Google Pixel 2 XL has a large 6-inch pOLED display that is Full HD+ and achieves an impressive pixel density of 538 ppi. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and has full bezels. The screen aspect ratio is 18:9 and the screen gets three types of settings for colour and brightness adjustment. The handset ships with last year’s Qualcomm flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 835 SoC, paired to a 4GB RAM and with 64GB internal storage in this case. There is also a 128GB storage model, but that one has not received any price cut yet.

Google Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL Can Turn Into A Smart Display With Pixel Stand Wireless Charger

Camera wise, the phone gets a 12.2MP rear sensor and an 8MP front shooter, which, given today’s competition, is quite outdated. The battery is 3520mAh with fast charging support, and connectivity specs cover all latest tech such as Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, Type-C reversible USB, NFC, and dual-band WiFi. However, you don’t get dual SIM support here. In our review (here) we noted that the camera and software (Android Oreo) excel, and the battery lasts quite long, but the screen quality could have been better and that the fast charging is not really that fast.

Google Pixel 3, Pixel 3XL: Leaked, Rumoured Specifications

Google is set to unveil its new Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL flagship smartphone on October 9. We recently reported that the Pixel 3 was found listed for pre-orders on a Chinese website, and that the live wallpapers from both the phones were leaked.

The Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will both boot the new Android 9 Pie, and have Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset powering them, paired, in both phones, to a 4GB RAM. The internal storage will be 64GB and 128GB just like the Pixel 2 XL, and like that handset, the new ones will also have a 12.2MP single-sensor rear camera. AI features will enable the rear camera to bring in background blur and other features, and the rear camera will have 4K video shooting ability. The front camera, however, will be a dual 8MP+8MP snapper, with one of them being an ultra wide-angle lens.
