So you just brought a nice new DJI Drone, head out to a nice open area for its maiden flight, whip out the controller and connect your OnePlus 6 – nothing happens. Google is filled full of stories of unhappy DJI owners who have unfortunately found out the hard way that their nice new expensive DJI Drone isn’t compatible with the OnePlus 6.
Fortunately, while DJI claims the OnePlus 6 isn’t an officially supported device, there is a way to get the device working with the DJI app.
How to get the OnePlus 6 and DJI Drones to co-exist
The fix is in fact fairly simple. It involves turning on Developer Options in the OnePlus 6 and then enabling USB Debugging.

- Head into Settings.
- You’ll want to enable Developer Options so go into “About Phone”.
- Tap “Build Number” several times until a popup confirms developer options has been enabled.
- Now head back to Settings and into System.
- Now you’ll see “Developer Options”.
- Scroll down until you see a switch to enable “USB debugging”.
- Flick the toggle and you’re good to go.
Now when you connect your OnePlus 6 to the DJI controller and open the app, the device should be recognized and allow you to use your drone as you usually would.
