The Redmi 6A, a highly affordable entry-level Android smartphone from Xiaomi, recently went on its first-ever Flash Sale in India. Similar to the first sale, the smartphone will once again be available on Amazon India and Xiaomi Mi Store. The entry-level smartphone is one of the most affordable, yet capable Android devices.
The Honor Play, on the other hand, is one of the best budget Android smartphones that get Huawei’s GPU Turbo feature. The smartphone is an Amazon India exclusive device and will participate in yet another Flash Sale. Let’s look at the price, offers, specifications, and features of these two devices that fit into two different price segments, and yet offer a very high value for money.
Redmi 6A: Price in India, First Sale Dates, Launch Offers on Amazon and Xiaomi Mi Store
The Xiaomi Redmi 6A replaces the still popular Redmi 5A that Xiaomi launched last year. The Redmi 6A comes in two memory configurations, but they both have the same 2GB RAM. The 2GB RAM + 16GB internal storage variant of the Redmi 6A costs Rs. 5,999. The 2GB RAM + 32GB internal storage variant of the entry-level handset costs Rs. 6,999. The Redmi 6A comes in Blue, Black, Gold, and Rose Gold colors.
The Redmi 6A variants will go on sale on Amazon India starting 12PM today, September 26. Currently a ‘Notify Me’ is placed on Amazon India which allows interested buyers to receive a reminder about the sale. Surprisingly, only a single offer from an Indian 4G mobile operator is present below the listing. It claims to offer Rs. 2,200 cash-back and 100GB 4G data. There are no other offers mentioned. However, Xiaomi and Amazon might update the listing to include some attractive offers before the sale goes live today.
The sale on Mi.com will begin at 12PM. Moreover, the same Jio partner offer is available. Also, buyers get a 3-month complimentary access to Hungama Music. Mi Protect handset protection program costs just Rs. 549 per year. Buyers can also exchange select smartphones under Mi Exchange.
Honor Play: Price in India, Sale on Amazon, Offers
The Honor Play is an Amazon India exclusive smartphone. The sale on the eCommerce platform will begin at 12PM today. Interestingly, Honor has started to offer a new variant of Honor Play. Previously there was only one variant with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory. But the new variant packs 6GB RAM + 64GB internal memory. The 6GB/64GB variant of Honor Play costs Rs. 23,999. Incidentally, there’s a 6GB/128GB variant as well, but it’s not listed. The handset is available in two color options; Navy Blue and Midnight Black.
Amazon India is offering several attractive offers on the Honor Play smartphone during this Flash Sale. Buyers using HDFC Debit or Credit Cards get additional five percent off on the list price. The same discount is applicable to buyers using their Bajaj Finserv EMI Card. The institution also offers a No Cost EMI option. Amazon is offering exchange bonus up to Rs. 7,400 on select old smartphones. Also, buyers get 10GB additional 2G/3G/4G data for using a Vodafone prepaid or postpaid SIM card with every new purchase valid for 12 months, but this offer is valid only for Amazon Prime members.
Redmi 6A: Specifications, Features
The Redmi 6A replaces the immensely popular Redmi 5A. The entry-level Android handset sports a 5.45-inch HD+ IPS LCD display with 720×1440 resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. The display has a decent pixel density of nearly 300 PPI. The handset sports a plastic back, but certainly looks decent.
A Mediatek Helio A22 processor clocked at 2.0GHz powers the smartphone. It comes in 2GB/16GB and 2GB/32GB memory configurations. The handset has a 5MP front camera with AI Face Unlock. A single 13MP HD rear camera is present on the back. It offers burst mode and Phase Detection Auto Focus. The handset also claims to offer some low light enhancement tech for night-time and indoor photography.
The Redmi 6A packs a rather humble 3,000mAh battery pack. There’s no mention of any Fast Charging standard. Although the device has rather small internal storage, a micro-SD card up to 256GB can be inserted. The smartphones runs Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 9. But Android 9 Pie-based MIUI 10 is already on the way.
Honor Play: Specifications, Features
The Honor Play features a FullView Full HD+ 6.3-inch LCD notched display with 1080 × 2340 resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The handset comes in two configurations: 4GB RAM + 64GB internal storage and 6GB RAM + 64GB internal storage. There’s a hybrid SIM card tray for memory expansion. A powerful Kirin 970 octa-core processor clocked at 2.4 GHz powers the smartphone. The CPU works with a Mali-G72 MP12 GPU. Also, there’s a dedicated NPU for AI features.
The Honor Play sports a dual 16MP + 2MP camera on the back and the 16MP front camera. The camera comes with several AI-powered features, including pixel binning technology. The smartphone can also capture 4K video at 30FPS.
A relatively large 3,750mAh battery powers the Honor Play. Also, it supports Fast Charging. Connectivity options on the Honor Play include a rear fingerprint scanner, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC, USB Type-C, and Dual 4G VoLTE. The smartphone runs on Huawei’s EMUI 8.2 (Android 8.1 Oreo-based) operating system.
