An Amazon exclusive is gearing up to launch tomorrow in the form of the Vivo V9 Pro. Earlier this month, Chinese smartphone maker Vivo launched its latest V series smartphone in India, the V11 Pro, and now the V9 Pro is set to enter the country too. The device will be an upgraded version of the V9, hence the ‘Pro’ moniker, that launched in India a few months back.
Vivo V9 Pro: Specifications, Features
The Vivo V9 teaser page highlights some of the standout specifications of the upcoming device. Just like the regular Vivo V9, which you can see our review, the V9 Pro will feature a 6.3-inch FullView 2.0 Display with a notch at the top to enable a full-screen display to achieve a screen-to-body ratio somewhere in the region of the 90% mark. The panel will offer 1080 x 2280 Full HD+ resolution with a 19:9 aspect ratio.
While the display is going to be largely similar to the one on the V9, that’s where the similarities end as the V9 Pro will see a significant upgrade in the performance of specifications. Instead of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 octa-core processor as seen in the V9, Vivo has upgraded the V9 Pro with a significantly more powerful Snapdragon 660 AIE octa-core processor, which is clocked at up to 2.2 GHz and features an Adreno 512 GPU. The V9 Pro will come equipped with 6GB of RAM for improved multitasking performance. The rest of the specifications remain undisclosed currently as the teaser landing page doesn’t disclose anything further.
The page for the V9 Pro launch makes no reference to a new camera, which if this was an area that would be upgraded over the standard V9, we would expect Vivo to have highlighted this in the teaser poster. Therefore, it is possible that the smartphone will feature the same 16MP + 5MP dual-camera setup as the Vivo V9. On the front, the smartphone is likely to feature a 24MP selfie snapper paired with an f/2.0 aperture lens. Connectivity-wise, the V9 Pro will likely support Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, and Dual 4G VoLTE. Some of the other features that we expect to see in the V9 Pro include a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, AI Face Access support, and fast charging support. In terms of battery capacity, we can expect to see a similar capacity to the V9. As far as software goes, the smartphone will likely launch with the Android 8.1 Oreo-based Funtouch OS 4.5 out of the box.
Vivo V9 Pro: Price in India, Availability Details
Given the Vivo V11 Pro is priced at Rs. 25,990 in India, we can expect the V9 Pro to be priced closer to the Rs. 22,000 mark and definitely under the Rs. 25,000 mark.
The Vivo V9 Pro will be launched in India today and will no doubt ship soon later. As mentioned above, Amazon.in has set up a teaser page for the upcoming smartphone on its website where it confirms the launch will be an Amazon exclusive. You can also sign up to be notified of any updates directly on the page. Despite being listed as an Amazon exclusive, we expect that this will be for initial launch only and we do expect the smartphone to be sold online via the Vivo India online store as well as offline retail stores across the country.
