OnePlus 6 OxygenOS Open Beta 8 Brings Slow Motion Video Capture Optimization, Audio Tuner, More

OnePlus has been on fire lately, not literally, but with providing software updates for its latest smartphones. The OnePlus 6T has received 4 updates in a span of one month, whereas the OnePlus 6 has received 2. We are talking about stable updates here, which are available for all users. The company has improved several aspects of its devices, added new features and improved the security by providing timely software updates. The company also seeds Open Beta software to these phones to try out new features before making it public. Currently, the OnePlus 6 is receiving an OxygenOS Open Beta update, which brings new features and improvements to the device.

OnePlus 6 OxygenOS Open Beta 8

The latest OxygenOS Open Beta 8 for OnePlus 6 includes some new features, system improvements and other optimizations. If you own a OnePlus 6 smartphone and are on the Open Beta software, then you will receive the update notification soon. Several users have already got the update, but since this is a staged roll-out, it could take a few days to reach all users. The update weighs around 100MB and is available over-the-air. We would like to remind you that the update is only available for users who are running Open Beta software on their OnePlus 6. If you want to try out new features, then you should probably flash the Open Beta software on your device.

The Open Beta 8 update brings a couple of new features such as the Audio Tuner for the OnePlus Type-C and other Bluetooth earphones. The About Phone UI and Call History sees some improvements in the update. OnePlus has also included a new Dark Theme for the Dashboard in Shelf. You can now enable the Dark Theme in the Settings app. Finally, the update also improves the slow motion capture on the Camera app. However, the update still has the November security patch and not the newer one. That’s all there is in the new OxygenOS Open Beta update.

OnePlus usually seeds two Open Beta updates every month for its devices. The previous Open Beta 7 update for the OnePlus 6 brought some very useful new features. It included the new OnePlus Roaming feature, which allows users to purchase data packs and connect to networks while in roaming. It also included a new video enhancer option that improved the color in videos and games. The OnePlus 6 is also set to receive a stable OxygenOS 9.0.3 update very soon.

OnePlus 5/5T Users are Getting Impatient

While OnePlus is taking good care of its latest smartphones, the OnePlus 6T and OnePlus 6, the older OnePlus devices are not being looked after. The year old OnePlus 5T and OnePlus 5 still haven’t received the Android 9.0 Pie based OxygenOS update. As we mentioned earlier, OnePlus seeds two open beta updates every month to its devices. However, the OnePlus 5/5T haven’t received these updates in over a month. This is making users very impatient and OnePlus hasn’t even given any information regarding the delay.

The Chinese variant of the OnePlus 5/5T have already received the Android Pie based HydrogenOS update, which means that the team is indeed ready with an update. We are not sure why it is taking the company so long to seed the update for other users. If you head to the OnePlus forums, the OnePlus 5/5T section is flooded with users asking for the new update. OnePlus should at least provide some kind of statement regarding such as long delay.
