It was just a few days ago that we last talked about Samsung’s upcoming M-Series smartphone — the Samsung Galaxy M31. When launched, the Galaxy M31 will be positioned as the successor to the hugely popular Galaxy M30s from 2019. It also expected to be one of the M-Series devices that Samsung plans to officially unveil later this month. Anyway, the reason you are reading about the Galaxy M31 once again is thanks to the official Amazon “Notify Me” page that has now gone live for the phone. The page – apart from clarifying that the phone will be unveiled on February 25 – also has some of the more important features of the phone. We can also, for the first time, see the official images of the Galaxy M31 in its full glory.
Apart from this Amazon ‘Notify Me” page, Samsung’s own microsite for the Galaxy M31 is now live. Both these pages have the same images and descriptions.
Samsung Galaxy M31: Specifications (Confirmed)
From the images and specifications already listed on the pages mentioned above, we can confirm that the Samsung Galaxy M31 gets a quad-camera setup at the rear. The primary camera also sees an upgrade as far as the sensor is concerned with the device getting a 64-megapixel sensor in place of the 48-megapixel sensor we saw on the Galaxy M30s. The phone will also get an ultra-wide-angle camera probably with better resolution), a macro camera, and a depth sensor.
The display size, more or less, remains the same with the Galaxy M31 retaining the large 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display. The panel boasts of FHD+ resolution and gets a U-shaped notch at the top-center where the front-facing camera is housed. We still do not have complete details regarding the sensor for the selfie camera. We can, however, expect it to be better than the one we saw on the outgoing M30s.
The poster also confirms that the Galaxy M31 retains the massive 6,000 mAh battery that we saw on the Galaxy M30s. There is no mention of enhanced fast charging support, though.
Samsung Galaxy M31: Other Specifications
As for the other key specifications, we had in an earlier article confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy M31 could use the same Exynos 9611 SoC that the M30s also came with. The phone is also likely to come in two versions — a base 4GB+64GB version and a pricier 6GB+128GB option. The handset will also get a triple slot that can accept two SIM cards and one microSD card together.
February is indeed turning out to be quite busy for Samsung. The company, in case you weren’t aware, is also looking to launch two new A-series smartphones (including the Galaxy A71) in India later this month. This is, of course, apart from the international launches later today with the announcements scheduled at the Galaxy Unpacked 2020 event.
