Honor 9C with Kirin 710 SoC, 4GB RAM Passes Through Geekbench, Launch Seems Imminent

Huawei’s sub-brand Honor seems to be working on a new budget handset called the Honor 9C. We have come across a Geekbench listing with references to a new Huawei phone with model number Huawei AKA-L29. This model has earlier appeared on the EEC website, which indicated that the phone was being considered for launch in the Russian market as well. Very little is known about the Huawei AKA-L29/ Honor 9C at this point in time. Chances, however, are that this device would be very similar in specifications to the Honor 9X, which was launched in India.

Here is a screenshot of the Geekbench listing

Honor 9C

From the above image, we can deduce that the Honor 9C is likely to feature the Kirin 710F SoC from HiSilicon. This is an aging SoC that has been used on several Huawei and Honor devices over the past two years. Devices like the Honor 9X (Review) and the Huawei Y9 Prime (2019) also came with the same handset, and the latter was launched here in India almost a year ago. The Geekbench result shows that the handset comes with 4GB of RAM. There is no word if this device would be made available in other storage and RAM options. Another thing evident from the Geekbench listing is the single-core and dual-core benchmark scores. As expected of a device using the entry-level Kirin 710F processor, the Honor 9C manages to score 298 points in the single-core test and 1308 points in the multi-core test.

We are still in the dark as far as the rest of the specifications go. As outlined earlier, we can consider this device as a slightly modified version of the Honor 9X with different camera specifications. We shall post more information about the Honor 9C as and when we receive them. We expect Honor to announce this handset very soon in select markets across the world.
