Oppo’s new sub-brand Realme earlier confirmed that the new Realme 2 is coming soon, and even acknowledged that the fans are waiting. However, except for the motto ‘A Notch Above’, we saw nothing much of the phone’s features, that is, until today. Realme has now officially teased the phone to boost the hype around it, revealing some interesting specs. Moreover, the company has sent out media invites for a launch event on August 28, so the wait is only for a few days.
Realme 2: Launch, Price in India
Realme’s Twitter handle was quite active in engaging with fans, and most queries it has been getting in the last two days centre on the launch date. Realme was responding with a staple answer to all these fans: “Hey, we don’t have any official information, stay tuned and follow our threads for updates on the same
.”
However, we now have Realme sending out official media invites for an August 28 event with the Realme 2 revealed in part as part of the invite. While Realme did not reveal any specs or pricing details in the invite, the launch is set for August 28.
Sources tell us the price of the handset should be around Rs 18,000 or less, but we’ll have to wait till the launch, perhaps, for the exact price.
Realme 2: Large Battery
Realme’s official Twitter handle has shared a poster of the Realme 2 phone with a wonderful piece of information — the device will feature a large 4,230 mAh battery. Given that we are expecting the device to come in the budget mid-range segment, this is a decent offering, attractive enough for most buyers. In fact, the post soon got replies from fans, who seem to appreciate the battery size on the Realme 2 very much.

The poster includes just the outline of the Realme 2, with a battery reading 4,230 mAh inside it, and a symbol of fast-charging next to it. The mobile is seen to be placed above another one which has a 3,300 mAh battery, something seen on most mid-range smartphones, although the Realme 1 has a larger 3,410 mAh battery. Also, the poster shared today shows the Realme 2 to have ultra-slim bezels, with no chin either. As Realme has already teased, the phone will come with ‘a notch above’.

We can hence expect the Realme 2 to come with a solid battery and with QuickCharge 3.0 support, or at least 10W fast charging for the phone, since the text in the tweet says, “From night long movie marathons to unending gameplays, with the 4,230mAh battery of #Realme2, let the fun never be interrupted!”
Realme 2: Dual Camera
About the same time that Realme posted the tweet about the heavy-duty battery on the Realme 2, the brand also shared another tweet, this one revealing that the new handset will feature a dual rear camera. The Realme 1 had a single-sensor 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front snapper, with most smartphones in the budget segment following this line. However, it will depend on the pricing of the Realme 2 for us to decide whether the dual rear camera is indeed great value for money or not.
In the tweet, Realme said, “Double the fun of taking the perfect picture. Capture the real world with the #Realme2 dual camera. Are you excited to see the magic unfold?” While it is easy to appreciate a phone that does not cost much and offers a dual rear camera, there is some churning in the satisfaction levels of those who have already purchased the Realme 1. The handset, as you may recall, was launched only four months ago.

Insofar as the many who have already bought the Realme 1 device are concerned, most seem impatient to exchange it with the new Realme 2. A cursory reading of the response to Realme’s tweet about the dual rear camera on the Realme 2 shows us that many buyers of Realme 1 are desperate to ‘exchange’ their handsets with the new Realme 2, with much emphasis on the ‘exchange’ aspect of it. Most people responding to this tweet can be seen asking for a special exchange offer for buyers of Realme 1, failing which, some say, they ‘feel cheated’.
Realme, however, did not respond to these supplications.
