Redmi Y2: 5 Reasons Why You Should Prefer This Xiaomi Budget Smartphone Killer Over Moto G6 Play

Xiaomi Redmi Y2

Buying a decent smartphone with a tight budget is not a piece of cake. Yet, the Redmi Y2, an amazing budget phone features all that you require. Here is a comparison of Redmi Y2 with the Moto G6 Play that proves why Redmi Y2 should be your first choice.

Redmi Y2: 5 Reasons to Prefer Over Moto G6 Play

1) The Xiaomi Redmi Y2 flaunts a display of 5.99-inch with a resolution 1440 × 720. This display is taller and much better than the display present in Moto G6 Play, which is a 5.7-inch screen sharing the same resolutions with the Redmi Y2.

2) Redmi Y2 packs the Snapdragon 625 chipset along with 3GB of RAM, with an option to purchase a 4GB RAM model too. The extra RAM gives you more options in terms of multitasking and unfortunately, Moto G6 Play not only features a powerful Snapdragon 430 chipset, that chipset is paired with just 3GB of RAM.

3) The internal storage space in the Redmi Y2 is 32GB with an option to purchase a model in the 64GB capacity as well. The Moto G6 Play offers only 32GB of onboard memory.

4) Redmi Y2 provides a much better camera than the Moto G6 Play. The photos captured by the dual 12 + 5MP rear and 16MP front cameras will be far better in quality than those captured through the 13MP rear and 8MP selfie cameras of Moto G6 Play.

5) Redmi Y2 is available for as low as Rs. 9999 in India whereas, the Moto G6 play can be brought in Rs. 10968. That is not a major price difference and spending more on a smartphone like Moto G6 that is delivering less performance than the Redmi Y2 will not be a wise move in the case.

In a nutshell, Xiaomi’s budget smartphone killer only is the smart choice to make in this particular scenario.

Redmi Y2: Specifications, Features

Xiaomi’s Redmi Y2 is available later with a 5.99-inch 1440 x 720 HD+ resolution display and 18:9 aspect ratio. It does not feature an OLED screen but takes advantage of IPS LCD screen technology. The performance of the device comes from the efficient and decently performing 14nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC.

The same chipset can be found in devices like the Redmi Note 5 and a few other Xiaomi phones so it has impressive performance for the price. The processor running in the chipset is an octa-core running at 2.0GHz, along with an Adreno 506 GPU. The model is sold in two RAM and storage models. One features 3GB RAM + 32GB storage while the other one has 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. There is also a microSD card slot space to further expand your storage up to 256GB.

The Redmi Y2 also has a 12 + 5MP dual-camera that is in the same place as the Mi MIX 2S, the iPhone X, and the Redmi Note 5 Pro. Camera features of the Redmi Y2 include taking images with a nice bokeh effect through software. The camera is capable of capturing HDR images and uses AI for beautifying images.

At the front of the phone is a 16MP selfie cam with a soft LED flash to help take decent pictures in low-light. There is also a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor that you can use to unlock the smartphone. A wide range of connectivity options sees the Redmi Y2 feature the Wi-Fi 802/11 a/b/g/n standard, with Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, GPS, microUSB 2.0 charging port, IR blaster and of course, 4G VoLTE support.

The battery is a 3080mAh capacity, with 10W charging support. It will be updated to MIUI 10, further improving its UI performance, making it a very capable, but affordable smartphone for the buyer.

Moto G6 Play: Specifications, Features

The Moto G6 Play gets a 5.7-inch IPS LCD display with an HD+ resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It too sports an 18:9 aspect ratio that follows the same bezel-less design as the Redmi Y2. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.

The Motorola Moto G6 Play has a single 13MP primary camera that features phase-detection autofocus and has an LED flash with the primary camera being able to record Full HD videos. The Motorola Moto G6 Play might be more expensive than the Redmi Y2, but its primary selling point will be its larger 4000mAh battery, which also supports 15W fast charging.
