Realme 2 Pro to Launch as Flipkart Exclusive in India on September 27: Here’re the Features We Know

The Realme 2 Pro, a higher variant of the second generation of the Realme series smartphones will sell exclusively on Flipkart. The eagerly awaited competitor to the affordable Redmi 6 Series from Xiaomi, will officially become available for purchase on September 27.

Recently Oppo launched the eagerly awaited Realme 2, the successor to the Realme 1, a popular entry-level Android smartphone. The popularity of the Realme 1 was easily surpassed by its successor, confirmed Oppo. The Chinese smartphone maker mentioned more than 3.7 lakh units of Realme 2 were sold within the first two flash sales. The third Flash Sale held recently must have taken the figure to over 4 lakh. However, Oppo isn’t resting on the laurels of the Realme 2, and hinted at a ‘Pro’ version of Realme, and soon after confirmed the existence of the handset.

A few days ago, Realme sent out press invites to an upcoming launch event on September 26 and September 27, which is quite likely for the Realme 2 Pro. Moreover, even the Pro variant of the smartphone will remain a Flipkart exclusive merchandise, just like the normal version. It is quite possible that Flipkart may hold Flash Sales on the website to sell the Realme 2 Pro.

Realme 2 Pro: Expected Price in India

Realme Chief Executive Officer Madhav Seth recently mentioned the Realme 2 Pro will be more expensive than the Realme 1. In other words, the smartphone will no longer fit in the entry-level pricing bracket and will move on the affordable or budget segment of Android smartphones.

Incidentally, the CEO hinted the smartphone but will be priced below the Rs.20,000 mark. We expect the top-end variant of the Realme 2 Pro could cost between Rs.17,000 and Rs. 20,000. But the base variant of the Realme 2 Pro may start at somewhere around Rs.12,000, which is undoubtedly a very attractive price.

At this price point, the Realme 2 Pro will challenge the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, Xiaomi Mi A2, Nokia 6.1 Plus, and other popular budget Android smartphones available under Rs.20,000 in India currently.

Realme 2 Pro: Specifications, Features

The Realme 2 Pro may sport a notched display similar to the Realme 2. However, instead of the HD+ resolution on the Realme 2, the Pro version could have a Full HD+ resolution and a 19:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone may sport a poly-glass and aluminum design with a diamond cut design.

Going by the implied pricing strategy, the Realme 2 Pro could be a major upgrade over the Realme 2. The Realme 2 runs on an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor with an Adreno 506 GPU. Rumors claim the upcoming Pro version will run on a Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor. The smartphone could pack up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. For further expansion, the handset could include a micro-SD card slot as well.

In the camera department, the Realme 2 Pro should include a dual camera setup on the back. These camera units will undoubtedly have AI-backed features like intelligent scene detection, portrait mode, and more. The Realme 2 packs a 8MP front-facing camera. The Pro version could have even higher resolution front camera.

Battery life is another area where the Realme 2 Pro could outshine the standard version. Realme 2 packs a large 4,230mAh capacity battery. While the Pro may have a similar-sized battery inside, it may have Fast Charging support.

Connectivity options on the Realme 2 Pro could include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and 4G VoLTE. The handset may ship with the Android 8.1 Oreo-based ColorOS 5.1. Incidentally, all the Realme smartphones released till date will receive Android 9.0 Pie update sometime early next year.
