Vivo To Take on Realme Brand in India by Launching Online Exclusive Z-Series Smartphone Range: Report

Within four years of its entry in India, Vivo has become the third largest smartphone brand in the country, addressing two of the most important features of the industry; design and specialised cameras. The company intelligently targets the affordable sweet-spot of the Rs. 8,000 and Rs 25,000 range in an already price sensitive market. Meanwhile, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer Realme also seems to have found its calling in India, opting for an ‘India-first approach’ to increase its foothold in the market currently dominated by Xiaomi. Realme also recently crossed the one million sales mark in India, thanks to its lower mid-range Realme 1 and its successor, the Realme 2. To undercut Realme, Vivo is reportedly planning to bring its affordable Z series to India.

Vivo To Rival Realme With Exclusive Z-Series

Currently, Realme only sells its phones on Amazon India, although, it is considering expansion into offline channels as well. This, along with the company’s strategy of launching its products in India first seem to be paying off, as Realme accounted for 32 percent of the smartphones sales in the country in the second quarter of the year.

Vivo, which sells its phones through both offline and online channels, is planning to replicate Realme’s strategy as it is reportedly going to launch a smartphone that would only be available online. The phone in question is expected to be a part of the Z series, which comprise of low-end mid-range models. The Z series is positioned between the flagship X series and the budget Y series. Although, it is not known which Z series smartphone Vivo is going to launch In India, our best bet is the Vivo Z1i, which was recently launched in China.
