Nokia 7.1 Plus, 7.1 Launch Could Also See a Notchless Snapdragon 710 Powered Nokia Phone Alongside

HMD Global is soon expected to expand its smartphone portfolio with the introduction of two new mid-range Android smartphones – Nokia 7.1 and Nokia 7.1 Plus. Some are speculating that the Nokia 7.1 could be launched later today, on October 04 at HMD’s global event in London. The company is also hosting a launch event in India on October 11, which may be the place the announcement takes place. For now it’s the launch rumours that is doing the rounds.

Notchless Snapdragon 710-Power Nokia Smartphone Incoming?

According to the Twitter handle “Nokia anew”, HMD Global will shortly launch three new smartphones. The first one will be the Nokia 7.1 Plus, which is going to be powered by a Snapdragon 710 chipset and features a notched display. As revealed by leaks recently, the second device will be the standard Nokia 7.1, which will also feature a notched display but a less powerful Snapdragon 636 chipset. The third device, according to the new rumour, will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset but without a notch at the top.

Unfortunately, the source of the new rumour has not revealed any other information regarding the device, so we will have to wait a bit longer to find out its marketing name and other key aspects. For now, the only thing certain is that the device will have a more traditional 18:9 aspect ratio display, thanks to the absence of a notch at the top.

Three New Nokia Smartphones May Launch in India on October 11

As mentioned earlier, HMD Global is holding a launch event in India on October 11. In case HMD Global does not announce any new smartphone at its London event today, we can expect all the three smartphones to be launched simultaneously at the upcoming launch event in India. While there is close to no information regarding the hardware specifications of the mysterious and notchless smartphone, multiple leaks have revealed most of the other specifications of the Nokia 7.1 and Nokia 7.1 Plus smartphones.

The Nokia 7.1 is expected to feature a 5.8-inch display with Full HD+ resolution and a 19:9 aspect ratio. It will be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset, paired with up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. In the camera department, Nokia 7.1 will have dual 12MP + 5MP resolution cameras and an 8MP snapper on the front. Just like the Nokia 7 Plus, the Nokia 7.1 will be capable of capturing 4K Ultra HD resolution videos.

Nokia 7.1 Plus, on the other hand, will feature a larger 6.18-inch sized display with full HD+ resolution and a 19:9 aspect ratio. It will be running on a Snapdragon 710 octa-core processor, coupled with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. The smartphone will also feature a 13MP + 12MP dual-camera setup at the rear, 20MP selfie camera, and a 3400mAh capacity battery. Both smartphones will be running Android 8.1 Oreo OS out of the box.
