It was just a few days ago that we wrote an article about the Xiaomi Redmi Go, a new entry-level handset from the Chinese smartphone giant. Images of this new handset were leaked by a Filipino tech blog called Revu and then by Ishan Agarwal through a tweet. On Monday, more images of the Redmi Go were leaked by popular German tech blog Winfuture.de. As per new information posted by the blog, the Redmi Go is likely to go on sale in Europe starting February. In the previous article, we already talked about the spec sheet of the new Xiaomi Redmi Go. In case you missed that article, let us now take a look at the Redmi Go again.
Xiaomi Redmi Go: Specifications and Features
Being the entry-level phone that it is, the Xiaomi Redmi Go finds itself being powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC. This chipset boasts of four ARM Cortex A53 cores clocked at up to 1.4 GHz. The device also gets a decent GPU in the form of the Adeno 308 that should be more than capable of handling most games in low and medium settings. What most people might not like, however, is the fact that the Redmi Go would come with just 1GB of RAM. While it is understood that Xiaomi had to keep things this way to keep the prices down, I feel that things would have been much better with at least 2GB of RAM. The internal storage capacity of 8GB too is pretty low in my opinion. You do, however, get a microSD card slot for memory expansion
The Xiaomi Redmi Go features a fairly large 5-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The panel, as you might, have noticed, is in the traditional 16:9 aspect ratio. The panel claims a brightness of over 380 nits and has a contrast ratio of 1000:1. If the Redmi Go ever makes it to India, it is possible that the phone would be priced at around the INR 5000 mark.
Xiaomi Redmi Go: Camera, battery and connectivity features
The Xiaomi Redmi Go gets a basic, entry-level 8-megapixel primary camera with f/2.0 aperture with support for flash and HDR. For selfies and video calls, the handset gets a 5-megapixel fixed focus camera with f/2.0 aperture. The Redmi Go boasts of a 3,000 mAh battery which is decent for a handset of its size. The handset comes with a 5V, 1A charger inside the box. Like other affordable Xiaomi smartphones, the Redmi Go supports dual SIM cards as well as 4G VoLTE networks. The phone also gets a triple slot for accommodating two SIM cards and one microSD card together. Wireless connectivity options on the phone include Wi-Fi 2.4GHz, 802.11 b/g/n as well as Bluetooth 4.1, and Micro USB, USB 2.0. As for mobile network bands, the Redmi Go has almost everything covered. Take a look at the list below;
GSM: B2, B3, B5, B8
WCDMA: Bl, B2, B4*, B5, B8
TDD-LTE: B38*, B40, B41(120MHz)
FDD-LTE: 01, B2*, B3, B4*, B5, 07*, B8, 020*, B28*
At launch, the Xiaomi Redmi Go will run Android Go; a stripped down, basic version of Android that is designed for affordable phones with low-end hardware. This will be based on an Android 8.1 core.
