Chinese smartphone maker Oppo until not too long ago was ridiculed for its on-the face advertisement campaigns and devices that were not great value for money propositions. Oppo products from before 2018 were infamous for not featuring any significant innovation and were usually only preferred by people who cared about looking good on selfies.
2018, however, was a very notable year for Oppo. This was the year in which the company turned around its image from that of a copycat Chinese phone maker to a brand that could design some excellent looking devices and also pack them to the hilt with innovations. The Oppo Find X for example which was the company’s most talked about the model from 2018 featured an excellent design with its slider camera and support for Super VOOC charging. The company currently has around 10% of India’s smartphone market and is looking to increase its foothold here. In the next few days, Oppo plans to release its new K series handset, the Oppo K1 in India.
Today, however, we will talk about a new handset that has appeared in leaked images. These images come courtesy of our very own Desi leaker Ishan Agarwal who shared pictures of what is reportedly a brand new Oppo device with a pop-up camera.
New Oppo device leaked: Is it the F11 or the R19?
We currently know precious little about this new device. What we can see from the leaked images, however, is that the major design highlight of the phone is a new pop up front facing camera.

The phone also clearly gets a triple camera setup at the rear hinting at the clear possibility of this being a very capable camera-centric device. As per Ishan, this device does not have an official name yet and could eventually become a part of the company’s premium R series lineup. However, he also mentions the possibility of this device ending up as an F -Series smartphone from the company. Also clearly seen from the images is the fact that the device runs Color OS version 6 atop an Android 9 Pie core. The device is also on the newest Android security patch from January 5. If this device ends up being a flagship class phone, it is likely that it would use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset.
We do not at this point have other details about this handset. Do watch this space for more on this new handset from Oppo.
