Realme made its debut in China earlier this month with the mid-range Realme X and a rebranded version of the Realme 3 Pro sold in India, dubbed Realme X Lite. Soon after the Realme X was launched in China, Realme India chief Madhav Sheth revealed in a tweet that the smartphone would arrive in the country “soon”. However, Sheth has now said that the phone will be released in India sometime in the second half of the year. This means Realme fans in the country will have to wait a little longer to get their hands on the Realme X.
Realme X to Arrive in India in 2H 2019
In the latest episode of #AskMadhav on YouTube, Sheth confirmed that the company plans to bring the Realme X to India in the second half of the year. Since a more specific timeline was not mentioned, it could mean that the smartphone may not be launched in the country very soon. In terms of pricing, Realme is planning to position the Realme X somewhere between INR 18,000 to 20,000 in the Indian market. While the Realme 3 Pro (review) is positioned as a budget mid-range device by the company, Realme X is said to be a “premium” budget mid-range offering.
Realme X is the Company’s Most Impressive Smartphone Yet
The Realme X is without a doubt the most desirable smartphone Realme has launched so far. While it runs on the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset as the Realme 3 Pro, it is a significant upgrade in many other areas. The Realme X sports a 6.53-inch AMOLED display featuring 1080 x 2340 pixels Full HD+ resolution, an optical In-display fingerprint scanner, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. In the memory department, the smartphone is sold in three different configurations in China: 4GB RAM + 64GB storage, 6GB RAM + 64GB storage, and 8GB RAM + 128GB storage. Unlike the Realme 3 Pro, however, the Realme X lacks a microSD card slot. This means you will not be able to expand the storage further.
At the rear, Realme X has a 48MP + 5MP dual-camera setup with the primary Sony IMX586 sensor clubbed with an f/1.7 aperture lens. The smartphone is capable of recording 4K Ultra HD resolution videos at 30 frames per second. Realme X comes with a 16MP pop-up camera for selfies, paired with an f/2.0 aperture. Keeping the lights on is a 3765mAh battery with support for 20W VOOC 3.0 fast charging technology. Similar to the Realme 3 Pro, the Realme X runs on Android 9 Pie OS with the ColorOS 6.0 skin running on top.
