Apple iPad Pro With MagSafe and Glass Back Tipped to Launch in 2022

Apple recently unveiled the new 2021 iPad Pro with an M1 chip. The company is already working on the successor that it plans to launch sometime in 2022. According to a Bloomberg report, the next-generation Pro iPad will come with wireless charging support. It will come with a glass back instead of the current generation’s aluminium body. Apple is also working on a new iPad mini. The smaller version of the iPad will launch later this year, according to the report. It is getting its first major redesign in six years. Let’s take a look at the leaks around the 2022 Apple iPad Pro and the iPad mini launching later this year.

Apple iPad Pro 2022

Apple iPad Pro 2022 is rumoured to get wireless charging support. The company is also rumoured to launch a new iPad mini later this year.

Bloomberg claims that the upcoming 2022 iPad Pro will get wireless charging support. To offer the feature, Apple is likely to switch to a glass back. The current set of iPads, right from the mini to Pro models, come in an aluminium body. Apple could well introduce MagSafe charging on the 2022 version of its premium iPad. The company introduced magnet-based MagSafe charging for the iPhone in 2020 as an upgrade to the standard wireless charging introduced in 2017.

Apple is also testing reverse wireless charging on the Pro models. It will allow users to charge their iPhones or other devices by placing them on the back of the iPad. The report states that Apple is still testing the new 2022 premium iPad. Its development is in the early stages and could change or get cancelled before the launch.

iPad mini 2021

Coming to the iPad mini, the report states that Apple will launch a smaller version of its iPad later this year. It claims that the iPad mini will come in an all-new design. Apple has not made any major changes to the mini iPad in six years. It could feature flat edges and possibly come in multiple colour options. Bloomberg claims that it will have narrower screen bezels. Apple is also considering removing the home button on the iPad mini.

In addition to this, Apple is also working on a thinner version of its entry-level iPad. The company unveiled the 8-generation iPad in 2020 alongside the iPad Air. The report claims that the entry-level iPad will launch alongside the iPad mini later this year.
